July 4th relic hunt

7centsworth

Well-known member
Finally after several months got to go civil war relic hunting. I noticed the other day the field had been cut so I had to go. I hunted for about 2 and a half hours and had a really good day. I have a whatsit that I need identifying also.

The bullet finds are amazing to me, especially the deformed ones that look like ballistic damage and not plow damage. It makes me think of what, or who, they may have impacted during a battle and how an entire family history changed in that moment that you hold in your hand.

They amaze me at how big some of them are. I could not imagine one of those going in me or through me.

WOW, I would say you hit the jackpot there. I hope their is a lot more CW stuff in the field... Very nice CW bullets.

That is the most bullets I have found in one day in a long long time. I am going to try and get back out there sometime this weekend and see how much more I can find.

The stem had a cork around it, and the piece went in the end of the barrel to keep dry, nice find.

Fantastic finds, :clapping:
