July 8 beach finds!:detecting:

Hello all. After much rain, storms, floods and very chilly weather, hubby and I were finally able to get out Sunday gone for a day's beach detecting. We decided to try a beach where the storms hit recently, and washed away a good amount of sand, and unfortunately some of the wooden steps leading down to the beach! While there, some of the locals told us that a heap of detectorists had already given the beaches there a go, and found all manner of treasures. So we were interested in how we'd go. Well, very happy with the results we got, between the rain showers! It rained on and off all day, and for a while there, we thought we were in for a huge storm. It came, around 4:00pm, and good time to call it quits! So, here are a few photos of the beach and finds. We're hoping to head back there next weekend for another detect.

Boy, you hit paydirt on that one. Good goin'!! I wish I could see more of the dates on those coins, but whatever they were, you sure got a lot of them. Marc.

Thanks guys. Don't know what happened here, but I posted the photos much larger than they came out. So posting a close-up of the pre-decimals for you beachguy. As for the other coins, they are the currency we still use, other than the one and two cent coins we found. We were so rugged up down at the beach, wearing water proofed pants and jacket over our clothes, I felt like a polar bear! But it did the trick, kept us warm and dry, and we enjoyed ourselves immensely. Hoping to go back next Saturday, and find more treasures!
