FLINTLOCK.jpg

I have had a bundle of loot stashed in my room, wondering what I could possibly get from last years metal detecting clad. There are no new machines out there that really have my interest, so when I saw this in Cabela's catalog, I knew that is what I wanted. Ever since being a little gaffer, I always liked those long rifles that Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett carried. And finding round musket balls in and around Edmonton kept that child like desire to get a flint lock muzzle loader. Well, it finally arrived. Now to do some more shopping for supplies-flask, black powder, lead balls etc.and also a little reading and lessons so as to not blow myself up, and I shall be ready to fire my first lead ball!

Did you spot that mini-ball I found today? I only spend my loot on things that I will have forever. Coins and a recent firearm purchase. I hope Garrett has a replacement for the 2500 on the horizon ecasue I still have $1741.00 in my MD account plus this years loot. I have my eye on a new .22 too. You're going to fire it right?

Chris

Very nice John. Good luck with it.

Neat smoke pole. Do you need an FAC for black powder rifles? I sold off my guns years ago and I'm waiting to see what comes of the firearms registry debacle.

VERY nice! I've been wanting a smokepole to add to the colletion myself. We should be buying these now while they're still cheap anyway. After our new administration gets done, those will be the only firearms we'll be able to use!

Good for you John, I bought my first muzzel loader last year. It's not the flint and cap style but I really enjoy shooting it. I got two deer (My first buck) with it last year! Mine is a break breach .50 cal. I enjoy it more than shotgun season. Have fun but be safe. Did you get a DVD with it. I bought a Traditions and it came with a DVD that shows you how to load, shoot and clean it.:garrett:

Very Nice, this is mine, 58 cal. Cannon!
Fires the very bullets I've dug for so many years! Hopefully your a right handed shooter, I'm a lefty and the flashpan scares the hell out of me.

No DVD. I am going to join a club and get some 1:1 learning. I am truly amazed at how many other people also have an older style rifle.

Good point. There are a lot out there to choose from. And you are right. And, if ammo ever becomes extinct for poitical reasons, the flint rifles will still be available to fire.

I went to a home coming in the 6th grade and a group of guys had the muzzle loading rifles and pistols they were driving nails, splitting the balls on an axe blade hitting a target on each side of the blade. Have been shooting black powder every since. They loaded them and let us shoot them. Really Neat!!!!!!! One of the best pistols that I ever owned was a .36 cal. black powder pistol.I won a few compititions with it. YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY THE BLACK POWDER IT IS A LOT OF FUN, AND REAL CHEAP!!!!
HAVE FUN !! H.H. GARY

Very nice looking gun John, maybe if you fire a few musket balls up here I can find them :bouncy::detecting:
