just a bit of help please

i live in Utah and i am getting a explorer in a week anyone know how the explorer works in utah
i had a xlt for abour 4yr and it just dont go beep any settings for here and help will be nice

Wish I had an answer, I didn't hunt any with mine out there when I was through there last year. Do you live around a basin area where the salt content of the soil would be high? I would suggest starting off in the factory presets, maybe leaving the sensitivity in semi-auto until you get a feel for how deep it can go. Since the Explorer is an FBS machine, ground mineralization or salts shouldn't affect it nearly as much as a single frequency machine like the XLT. Another thing to consider and one I noticed... the rocky mountain soils out there tend to run shallower than say the soils around me in the lowlands and flood plains. Be sure you are in an area where you're fairly certain that there are deep items to find. Also.. check into the FBS forum.. I believe there are a couple of Explorer owners from Utah who post there and could be of further help to you... Good luck, Mike.
