Just a little help on VDIs??

Can someone please give me a place online to what certain coins fall into as far as VDIs. I am trying to learn what the MXT is telling me. I am used to another brand and need some help :detecting: !!

Thanks, M.L. Hinds (Lee)

The VDI for the different coins is on the screen. Nickels are usually 16-22 ish and the rest are usually in the 70's-90's. Just look at the graphics around the screen for the coin and jewelry mode, and these are pretty much where the different coins will fall. Good luck and happy hunting!

nickles-------------20VDI
old pennies and dimes........78-80
quarters........86
silver rings............70 to 94
gold rings------------10-20
other rings.......anything.

This might help some but when looking for jewelry....dig everything unless you are in a trash area.

There's so many different variables that a specific coin will be the correct VDI number. I've had Indian cents at 55 out of the ground, but in the ground it jumps all over the place. Please don't go by a chart. It depends on the wear of the coin, type of soil, how long the coin has been in the ground, if you're right or left handed....Just kidding. Like I said, "So many variables." Just today I was getting wheat cents that jumped up to 82. :veryangry: Practice and more practice is the best to learn the VDI's. I hardly ever look at the VDI anymore. Good luck and HH, Nancy

Nancy is absolutely right about variables. However, if the MXT VDI readings are totally new to you then a chart will help you. Someone gave me the chart I posted when I was brand new to the MXT and it helped me a lot because I had no idea where anything fell. After awhile you just know by the sound if you want to dig or not etc and sometimes I am amazed at where a certain coin read "this time". However the chart will help if you have NO idea about the MXT's numbers.
