Whats a good comparison metal to gold? I want to do some test runs on my gold bug se, and the gold i got is pretty small. Id say less then a gram, and was wondering what kinda metal is close to gold... I was thinking lead, or fishing weights... Would i be able to get a decent comparision? Like i said just wanting to see what kinda depth i get. tku...

Not all gold is the same, but a US nickle is very close to much gold, I cut a nickle into pieces of various sizes & shapes Lead also works well.

Thank you for the feed back... :detecting: I got a piece of gold that is about the size of a the smiley face we can put on here and its about as thick as a piece of paper, and was wondering what else i could use to get a good reading on some bigger pieces of gold... I can get about 3 to 4 inches on it with my gold bug in all metal mode running pretty quiet.... Plus i live in northern California were the dirt out side is kinda hot... its all red, and i even found some hot rocks in my back yard with it.... Been dying to get out, but its been so cold, and the river is probably running way to high anyway... Well thanks for all the feed back much appreciated... Jess
