Not sure what this one is, it is approx 5 inches long looks to have a hand forged nail head on one end, and threads on the other.
at first i thought the inner metal shaft of a pot handle that may have had wood over it, but due to the large nail head on one end and screw
end on the other, i don`t see how it would have been used for that, so its kinda got me stumped .

really !!! wow, how did i not notice that, thanks for your intelligent ID ...

maybe a ramrod for an old muzzleloading pistol...flintlock perhaps..flared end to seat the ball and the ringed end to grip a cleaning patch?

no clue, but I sure do like your posts! You Sir, are one hunting madman!:please::clapping:
Mud

Thank you Mr Mud. i try to get out for a few hours each day. I currently live in the St Augustine area, the nations oldest city.
this place has a lot of history buried around here ... and im diggin it ... :)

Swept over the same area i have been picking at for a few weeks
and think i found another piece to this item, the threads match up in size
it does appear to be a ram rod to a short musket .
