just bought a NOS 1236x2

:detecting: I BOUGHT THE 1236 X2 LAST YEAR--GOOD UNIT--JUST NEED A 5 INCH COIL W/7 FOOT CORD TO COMPLETE IT. THE BATTERIES HAVE LAST A L.......O.....N.....G TIME. MUST HAVE GOTTEN 60 HOURS PLUS & STILL RUNNING. NO COMPLAINTS.
 
hey there texan do you get good depth with it? i had a 1270 and sold it and now i kick my but and tried to find another in my price range and low and behold found this always wanted to try one to see and always have read good things about them so can't wait!
 
My 1235-X will sound off on a 8" silver dime in my test bed... Sure have found a bunch of nice items with that old machine...

The 1236X-2 is a better coin hunter than the 1266X and 1270.I have used all three for the parks and the 1236X-2 works best for me.The five inch coil stayed on my unit and I agree with the previous post a great combination.By the way crank the sensitivity up to get the threshold when you can. hey ron do you think this would be a good unit for old colonial home sites? and i guess i'm hoping that i will be able to hit large copper at 8 to 10" depth maybe asking to much what do you think?
 
The 1236X-2 and 1266X are very similar in performance.In my opinion large copper even with the little 5 inch coil at 8-10 inches is well within the depth range.This unit works very well in iron infested sites and will increase your odds for keepers.The 1236X-2 is the best back pack unit ever made. Learn to use this detector,speed up the process go to a park and run the dis high for silver.Learn how to separate smooth round signals from the click and pops.Used 5 inch coils usually sell for very reasonable prices.Good Luck Ron
 
ron i'm so pysched from what your telling me, i was kind of worried about the lower frequency only taking a liking to silver and kinda skipping over the coppper and brass sort of stuff, not really a relic hunter but i'm starting to like the button finds now as well
 
i have been wanting to try a 1236 myself. found a new one at a good price and seriously thinking about buying it. everything i have read about the 1236 is good. only thing that bothers me is some were assembled in maylaysia or someplace. not sure if quality suffered on some machines or if they were the same as a los banos machine. it sounds like an excellent machine for the money and i always loved the fisher 1200 series detectors and want another. would like to hear what some 1236 owners have to say about it.

well i took the plunge and am getting a new 1236 detector!!!! :clapping: now to find a small 5 inch coil and a 10 inch coil for it. i have a site all picked out for the new machine as soon as all this snow is gone and it thaws out some. got this old church picnic grounds that covers about 4 acres that has produced coins from the 1860's ( 2 cent piece) up to
modern coins that will be a perfect spot to try the 1236 out. now if the weather will just cooperate....:unsure:.................roger
 
I hear you on the weather up here in maine where i live we have managed to escape all that snow that the south has recieved and could'nt be happier
 
we haven't had that much snow here in west central illinois but it has been windy and cold with some windchills down to about 15 degrees below zero....too freakin' cold for this old boy to be out in. we should be in good shape here in another 5 or 6 weeks though... weather usually gets better at end of march or first part of april. i can hardly wait to get out detecting again after being cooped up inside all winter.................roger
 
Is there a dealer that is still stocking these? Everyone I've checked is long since out.
 
you got to look hard i got mine from bonnieblue detectors out of dallas georgia and it will be here tommorrow and threw he threw in some nice CW relics and other stuff great dealer!
 
New Old Stock, some thing the dealer has had for sometime just laying around collecting dust or was never pushed through or what ever but its brand new in the box sort of like a time capsule

I BOUGHT IT ABOUT MARCH 2009--ONLY THING THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THEIR WEBSITE IS REFURBISHED UNITS FOR AROUND $219.00--ONLY CARRY A 3 MONTH WARRANTY--KEEP ON SEARCHING THOUGH.--SOMEBODY STILL HAS ONE OUT THERE THAT THEY MIGHT NOT BE USING FOR ONE REASON OR ANOTHER.
