My permanent home is Southern California and I have a married daughter here in the Pekin area of Illinois, so I'm here with my wife helping out her family due to the birth of our 7th grandchild earlier this week!. I went out metal detecting for the first time since we arrived here and the pickings were very slim! The weather has been hot and very humid so it's no fun to be outdoors....ugh! I guess that's why I'll never leave dry SoCal to live anywhere else!
I was thinking of all the awesome finds posted on this particular forum and it seems like hardly anyone is posting those kind of finds anymore? I'm thinking of the nice/heavy gold rings and yes, some really nice silver rings and jewellery. There has been some awesome coins and relics posted in the past but lately, no one seems to be getting those kinds of finds anymore? Is it the weather? Is it because there is more competition out there?
If you scroll through past posts, you will notice very successful detectorists that no longer post finds and I'm not sure if that's perhaps why we see less fresh posts? :confused:Anyway, your thoughts please!
P.s. I just evicted a tenant for non payment of rent from one of my rental properties here so I'll be fixing and painting a trashed apartment for the next 2 weeks as well as helping with the 4 other grandkids here! So I doubt I'll have much time for detecting myself! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it lol!!!

Yuup, activity has really slowed down on here lately. I posted a few things this spring, but they didn't create much chatter so I don't really bother anymore

GS- Congrats on the birth of your 7th grandchild. Another for you and your wife to heap loads of love and affection over ! In my case, full time work and a mens over 50 softball league has limited my hunting and postings to a few ocassional trips to the field. I just need to find the time to modify pictures and post a few hunts together about finding an iphone, some silver coins and wheaties....HH to you in the midwest...

Kschae4...Thanks for your well wishes! That softball league should keep you limbered up for metal detecting trips! Would love to see your silver coins posted!
S.S....I know what you mean about posts not generating any feedback or comments here! I find myself posting more on the 'Today's Find' forum and once in awhile post here to hopefully keep others excited about owning Minelab machines! especially Safari's. I sometimes get to try out friends metal detectors but I miss all the tones on a F.B.S. machine and keep coming back to my Safari!
Happy hunting everyone and I hope to get out more and will be posting new finds soon:thumbup:
