just couldn't help my self found big silver today

well skipped a few home jobs today &got out for 2.5 hours with the ACE250/sniper combo the first silver for the day came out within 5 min it was a 1960 sixpence then it was 2 hours of just junk & a few new coins then with 15 min to go until home time out pops a 1951 florin :shocked:needless to say it put a smile on my face so off home i went a happy chappy.
the new cash added up to $6.30 & found another lock i think this is number 6 from this spot this will be the last hunt here unless it rains as the ground is becoming rock hard.
here's some pics the US half dollar is for sizing.

I'm impressed. I love them florins. Never found one though. Maybe I'll just have to come to Melbourne and sweet talk you into showing me the said park.:poke::lol:

how old is the town you live in Mick ?? must be some oldies there some were. i keep this park very quiet :ninja: it"s been good to me so far i"v pulled 173 pre decimal coins out of it with 50 something of them being silver & most of this has been with the ACE250.

It's about 160yrs old. I have hunted some older spots with some success, but not much. Only one penny and a gun powder flask.

160 years sound good i hear ya on the lack of targets on good looking sites i"v got a heap of parks that should be loaded with good stuff but when i detect them i"d be lucky to find a penny i think the area was hunted heavily in the 70s.
i"m thinking of hitting them with the ACE/sniper combo as most are loaded with mid to low range targets with very few high tone targets witch makes me think they"v been cherry picked.
i only found this park i"m doing at the moment by doing research & some luck it"s not the kind of park most detectorists would hunt witch suits me fine :thumbup: also when hunting oldies with the ACE i run the sensitivity as high as i can get it without it going nuts usually 1 bar from full this seems to help finding old stuff heaps.

If I had a spot like that I'd be out right now even with two feet of snow on the ground and a trick back. Well done!

Australia has some beautiful coins. Love the reverse of that Florin. I think during WW2 the British Half Crown and the US half dollar traded at par. There were a lot of US GIs stationed over there probably with more than a few Walking Libs in their pockets. I've gotten a few UK half crowns mixed in with US half dollars in my career coin roll hunting.

I"m at the exact opposite it"s starting to get hot over here 34 yesterday & the grounds hard as rock & i"m sweating just thinking about digging old coins :rofl: i"ll have to start hitting the tot lots & do some water hunts hopefully i"ll get some gold soon.
The only old US coin i"v found was a wheat cent it had a hole in the top & was about 5 min walk from where injured US troops were getting treated no walkers yet but i"m trying.
