Just Curious.....How Many Land Hunt Only, Beach Hunt Only Or Do Both? :usaflag::ausflag::canadaflag::ukflag::csflag::garrett:

Because the AT Series can be used for water hunting too, it opens up a whole new territory for some. Yet, some just stick to land hunting simply because they have no interest for water hunting or just don't have any water within a reasonable driving distance.

From the ski slopes of California to the ocean, Desert to the sea. If people gathered there so do I . I metal detect in the water and on the beach. Theres no place safe from my machine. Sometimes I wake up and there is my machine.

Land 90%, Beach & Water 10% (maybe more now that I'm in my second season with the AT Pro).

I really enjoy hitting the parks, athletic fields for fun an exercise.

Turf the majority, but a couple months a year we divide this time between fresh water and salt water spots. Never had been in the water with a detector until I got the A T Pro. To old, though, to get into serious water hunting. It is a lot of work, at least for me. HH jim tn

You have to be patient to water hunt, sometimes you get a target and it goes thru your scoop for 20 minutes until you see it is 14 kt gold half of a heart.

I use the Pro exclusively on the beach or in the water wading...I have never once hunted a totlot or any dry ground dirt sportsfield with it yet, nearly 3yrs and not yet tried it on the dirt! I have a different machine for that...I hunt in the water for gold/silver with the Pro.....

That said, I am highly impressed with the finds I see here from the hunters that use it on the dirt..deep old silver, massive fast clad, and of course silver/gold jewelry. It seems very capable of what ever a person's area dictates..and thats a rare combination, most water rigs can 'sort' of hunt dirt, and some land rigs can 'sort' of hunt the water within reason, but this At rig does both extremely well it seems!:clapping:

Spend more time on land some in the water:canadaflag:

99% dirt. 1% water.

I live at Michigan's largest inland lake (Houghton Lake) so beach and water detecting, have ghost towns nearby, farms, rivers and streams, playgrounds...going to be doing them all now I have my AT Pro. Soon will be getting an RV so will be able to travel and hit other areas of the state.

I prefer water hunting because it's easier in my back, but did a little land hunt today. Got skunked, but enjoyed getting out.

I am aware that my odds of gold finds increase greatly by detecting water, but it just never really rang my bell, at least right now. And gold was never a major motivator for me. Let me find a 1920's penny or an old swirl marble and I've had a good day.

I never found any gold or silver until I hit the water.

I have been moderately successful with silver rings, but gold for me has been as rare as hens teeth. Leaning toward grabbing a scoop this year probably because of this thread, lol.

I tell you, Upnorth... I started out a land hunter/beach sweeper...learned a lot...worked really hard hunting for gold, found a bit, some quite nice, it was really hard earned... kept hearing, "If you want to find Gold you gotta get in the water"...So I got a Pro, made myself a scoop, and went in the water! Sure enough! Not a week into it, BANG! Then it kept coming! BANG, BANG, BANG!

You find yourself an old swimming hole and get down in it with the Pro, and there will be gold there and silver too...

Cool. There is only one lake within reasonable driving distance around here. But it has good activity so I'm not going to whine, what I do or do not find will be dependent upon my efforts. I farted around a couple of times last year for a bit in water a bit above my knees with a colander. I got some clad, a cheap watch, and a silver dime (black as midnight), so the finds are there. This should be fun. :wiggle:
