I find that interesting, or in the words of Alice in Wonderland, it is "curiouser and curiouser" that just one person, out of thousands uses the Sunray 12" coil.
I'm buying one. So I guess out of thousands there will now be two that use it. Just wanted some feed back pro or con on the coil.
Just as long as everyone's having fun.

tony many folks bought them and sold them, sometimes bigger aint always better
theres a time and place for each coil I have a WOT that has not been used yet this yr just the fields and weather are not workin together
go get em with the coil and look forward to your opinion ........HH

Tony, I've got one and it has it's place in my arsenal of coils where I need that litte bit of extra coverage over the stock 10". Can't say it's any deeper but can't say it's not either. It sure has good seperation and pinpoints extremely well. I actually prefer it on the beach in the wet sand because it's not as bouant as the 10" although the stock coil glides over the sand and grass easier because it has a sloped up edge where the Sunray has a more deffined sharp edge. ( Look at the edges of both coils and you will see what I mean).
Bottom line for me though is that when I'm in nice open grass areas or wet sand where the extra coverage is needed .. the Sunray 12 is hard to beat. The 12" seems to lock onto deep targets a little better too. Dug a 1919 merc yesterday at 9" that was sitting right on top of a piece of cast iron water pipe.

Now that is what I call real metal detecting!
Thanks for the report, Mike.
Do you have to run your sens lower or Gain lower with the Sunray coil like others have stated?

Well Tony,
Down here in my mineral free sand loamy soil (in most areas I hunt) I can crank the Sunray up as high as my 10" with NO PROBLEMS at all. Matter of fact, when I do change from the 10" to the Sunray 12" I hardly ever have to move any of my settings. Of course your area and style of hunting may be completely different than mine.
Bottom line for me, I really like the 12" in the right scenario over the 10". Can't really say WHY allot of folks have decided to sell there's after trying it against the the stock 10" but for me the WOT is just to big for some of the areas I hunt .... so there again the 12" fills a niche. I've had good success with coins on edge with the 12" too .. but we all know the Explorer Rocks in that catagory like no other

Have had the x12 for about 6 months and really like it. It is much better balanced on the EX than is the standard coil and just as deep with more coverage.

Are those from the Explorer of Fisher or both?
Nice haul!
And did you use the X-12 to find them?

I accualy use 3 coils, the X12, the Joey and the 5 inch coil. I dot use my stock coil much at all and bet my stock coil didnt get used more than a hour or 2 this year.
I like the X12 as is is ligher and beter balance and feels it seperates better too than the stock coil. I use it when I need depth or gound coverage and the Joey for most the other hunting other than very high trash, then I put on the 5 inch coil. I have these mounted on the lower XS shaft and being I use a X1 probe they can be changes in less than 30 seconds.
