from camping. had a good time. But It was rough trying to sleep in a tent. Caught a few fish and got to listen to the coyotes. Seen one bald eagle . I cooked breakfast and nobody got sick. Liz couldn't stand it that she was not cooking so she had to cook us some more. Loren said her favorite part was watching me fish and watching the toad frogs get along the river close to the fire and ribbiting. We watched there throats swell up thousands of times. GOD is so good and it is good to camp by the river and see his creations.

will be among the best times you will remember. We did just that when our son was young. Nothing better , steve in so az

Quite often it's the little inconspicuous things that really round out life.I'd imagine they're pretty important things to God.

Camping is great family fun and you sound like you had a very enjoyable time. I will not be surprised if your frog watching turns out to be one of those marvelous and precious family memories and frequently recalled in years to come. It reminded me of a more or less incidental thing in our camping history.

We have three sons and have spent our lives regularly camping in tents. Sometimes we paddled up rivers in our canoes and camped beside the water. Other times we drove to some remote spot in the bush and there are many remote areas in Oz.

Of all the many things we did over the years my sons often talk about a miserably hot day (100 plus all day) when it was just too hot to even swim. We were all lying on the ground under some trees and began swatting the annoying flies. Before long each of us had a large pile of them in front of us and our enthusiasm to swat a million of them grew minute by minute. And so several productive hours passed and we diminished the fly population by many thousands; but there was just as many to replace them.

It was a "nothing" sort of day (but not for 100,000 + flies) but my boys often talk about it. Wonderful family memories come from surprising and incidental events, like frog watching.

In six weeks our oldest son, with his wife and three kids, are off around Oz in a 4wd drive towing an off-road caravan. They will be away for four months. His wife and kids have got the camping disease and so have my other sons.

My wife and I are off in our 4wd and off-road van in about eight weeks. We will be away for three months gold prospecting in Western Australia. It's about a 4000 kilometre drive from home and we will be camping about 300 kms from any town. It's very remote out there and last time we went we did not see a soul, but it's wonderful.

I'll fill you all in with some details before we go and hopefully record a few good gold finds as well!

I love camping and don't get out often enough. Spending time with kids away from TV & computer (although with plenty of books) made for some fond memories for my kids growing up. When my girls got into Scouting it stood them in good stead too. My daughter became a patrol leader, and was at the World Jamboree in Sweden last year.

Life has a way of quickly passing us by Peggy. Make the time, get out with the kids before it's too late. It's not easy to do but well worth the effort. Precious memories.

Enjoyed it very much, kinda reminded me of old times. Sweet memories, indeed. Thanks for taking Loren and I camping..I know we make a lot more work for you. Lots more gear to carry; fish to take off hooks; helping us up and down the river banks, etc. We appreciate you and are thankful for the memories :cheekkiss:
