Just made my vaquero a dual disc machine. easy cheap mod. check it out

its a SPST switch shouldn't it be a SPDT?

It is a spdt switch. A spst switch is like an on of switch only one contact . The spdt switch has two contacts one closed and one open at all times .

Hi, Well how's about calling me Mr. know something LOL.....I see your only switching out the wiper of the potentiometer I assumed three wires were utilized in this particular circuitry.... I wonder if one leg of the potentiometer is grounded? Anyways if three wires are used the same stated rules apply.....Every circuit is different so I can't respond to how Troy done their switching....I know Fisher & Garrett do not use anything like this it's done electronically.....Best of luck...JJ

No problem. Got to question everything. I broke the wiper from the circut wich takes the pot out. As long as the resistor holds up to the power going through it I should be fine. That was the only concern I had. I used a 1/4 watt resistor to be safe .

On my mod, the switch has only ONE terminal on whenever I flip the switch. So I may have the terminology wrong,, but I think it's spdt. The white wire is in the center terminal and activates one pot or the other, by completing the circuit to the middle terminal of one or the other pots, according to which direction the switch is flipped.
So basically the spdt switch takes the one white wire and switches it to turn on one pot or the other. Without the center terminal activated, the pot is essentially taken out of the circuit.

Yup thats a spdt switch. Thats the sme switch I used on my mod. Now I searching for a sptt switch so I can set another resistor in the tab range. That switch is alot harder to find .

I don't thinkTesoro wont work on a modded detector, they just wont do it free. Your warrenty is now void. Tesoro Modders know it and obviously don't care.

This site has a lot of choices. They may be what you are looking for. Its a little confusing to me. But I can see potential in what you are talking about. With the discrimination adjustable and two switched points, say a trace above nickle and just below Zink penny you could have the equivilent of a golden with the power of a vaquero - maybe??

My understanding is they will work on it, but they will take all the crap off and return it to it's original setup. No, I don't care. I liked the versatility of the mod and it seemed like the Troy users liked it also- although the Troy was set at zinc penny reject.

Thanks alot for that info. Switch has now been ordered. I've been looking everywhere for one now im set. I think ill also add a all metal switch so I dont have to change the disc setting. Thanks again.

n/t

I just traded my vaquero for an outlaw. Will be doing mods to that. I got my sp3t switch in the mail today now just waiting for the outlaw to come.
