Just ordered my Explorer SE! .... did I get good stuff?

I got the Minelab Explorer SE with the X-1 probe and Sunray X-8 coil. I am starting to have my doubts about that choice of coil. Is the Minelab 8 inch coil better? I've heard great things about the Sunray.

I took the advice and held off purchasing the X-12. I think the stock coil will get plenty of depth for the time being until I learn how to use the detector.

First of all you made the right choice buying a minelab :) You now own the best detector on the market in my opinion. The pinpointer is a good choice. As far as coils we all have our personal opinions. The Stock Minelab coils are well constructed coils which work great on the explorer as they were meant to do.

You're right on target, start with the 8 first and learn what your doing, learn the tones and dig every thing that repeats when swung across left to right, 90 degrees and left and right, if it repeats solid in all four directions, dig it.
