just starting out have a lonestar

Hey everyone.

purchase a lonestar about 6 weeks ago, found 36 cents and a copper ring.

can any help me out about with the settings on the lonestar. I have a habit of changing the settings. I go to the beach I would get a hit with the detector sounded several times in a giving spot. Then the detector stops giving me a hit. The instuction that came with the detector are rather vague. Any help with be very helpfull. Also I live in southeastern ct by the Mohegun sun casino any down this way throw me a post.
 
What might help is getting some test targets like pull tabs,nails round an square a few coins dime penny nickle an test your machine an ajust the settings to see how they
detect an read so you know how to disc them out if you want.
