............Yesterday,I was outside, and a girl rode by on a bicycle.text messaging..............-I SURE DO hope she breaks that habit before she starts driving a car..............

the youth group to the go cart track and a kid in the go cart was texting!

Ya know, I guess I'm an old foggie....I don't even want someone talking on a telephone around me in the store! Some ask questions about grocery shopping and which item to buy, but to just keep on talking like ya hadn't seen or heard from someone in ages is kinda stupid, I think! Driving with phones in their ears is complete nonsense, unless an emergency call, and text messaging away from home is uncalled for....come on people can't you leave the electronic gadgets alone for a little while??....There is a world out there needing heard from and done something about....at least pray or send a prayer by TXT messaging! The younger generation are spoiled and don't even know what it is like to spend time to themselves! May God have mercy upon us all! Amen! Ma Betty

I can talk faster than I can type! :)

Ma, I must confess! I am definitely a electronics/technology junkie. I've always been interested in that sort of stuff but I think some of it comes from the fact that when I was teaching we had to attend technology workshops, sometimes twice a year, and I also had to take technology classes in college. Teachers are expected (and pushed) to kind of stay "with it" when it comes to a lot of this stuff. Even though it doesn't really bother me to see someone on their cell phone, I hate it when they are on it while trying to do business with someone else. If you're in a store and trying to check out, in a restaurant ordering your food, at a hotel checking in/out, or any number of situations - GET OFF THE PHONE!!!! Texting is today's generations way of communicating. I think it'd be easier to just call the person instead of texting (but there ARE situations when texting is a life saver!) but I reckon I got sucked into the text thing because of my kids when they were growing up. I know it's STUPID but my cell phone is always by my side... and it's not just a phone, it's a camera, computer, texting, games, and 100's of apps that do almost anything you could ever imagine! Gotta have it! lol I don't like leaving home without me laptop either... or my iPod Touch MP3 Player (which also has a ton of capabilities). I usually have my digital camera close by, my TomTom in my Jeep, handheld gaming consoles (GameBoy DS) by my chair and/or in my bag. I wear pedometers, my Fitbit, and now, keep my new GPSr nearby for geocaching. Love my metal detectors, TV's, DVD players, printers, scanners... YOU NAME IT! I'm all for having and using technology, but not when it interferes with what you're supposed to be doing. I don't mind if someone talks on their phone all through the store but GET OFF OF IT when you're at the register. lol I guess it's just whatever we get used to doing... or not doing.

I guess you are right, Lisa, but I didnt grow up with those things and my kids didn't either! I'm sure if I were a lot younger they would make more sense to me, for I know they do have all kinds of capablities! My oldest daughter and son-in-law have fancy cell phones, I pods or whatever you call them that do everything but feed them and brush their teeth! My brother had downloaded music on his I-Pod and even an attachment to his radio where we all could hear the music in the car as we were traveling to the country and back! But I am too old and without the finances, I will just use my Computer at home, (I do need to carry my digital camera and cell phone when out of the home, but I forget them) I don't go anywhere much, so really wouldn't use them but only while I am home! If someone needs to call me and can't get me, if it is important they can call back, and I'm sure if it was an accident or a death someone in the family would keep calling until they were able to talk to me!

This Computer with all its different programs confuses me enough and to learn all those different gadgets would be more confusing! Now, if I was raised up using them I would use and understand them better, just like most of you know nothing about an NCR Bookkeeping Machine and how to run it and the old-time typewriters, and cars without power or A/C or no TVs....it is what you know about something that makes it easier and maybe want it providing I could pay for it! I do without many things because of the lack of money that I need for my bills and more important things.....like being able to live! You play with your gadgets and put them to good use! :) May God Bless! Amen! Ma Betty

say something here. I know my last Post on this sounds mean but I'm going to tell you that I have no pity for "ANYONE" who Texts, Drinks, Eats, Does Their Facials or anthing else while operating a car, bicycle, go carts, airplanes Elephants or anything else you can conceive of. PERIOD.!!!! My Fiance, Debra, was killed by a drunk driver in 1998. The drunk walked away with a few scrratches. My car was hit by a drunk driver in 1983. Totaled my car. He was uninsured and broke as could be. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital over it due to the injuries I endured. I"ve lost my car, My health, money and my Fiance due to these heartless, careless, thoughtless people. Yes IT BURNS.!!!!! Sorry but I have no pity for them. I'm GLAD God "WILL" repay. Enough said : :hot:

Well, there is a time and place for everything and while driving all our attention should be on seeing where we are going and watching out for other drivers who seem to think the road belongs to them only! I have a one track mind and I have to be thinking about where I'm going and make sure I take the right roads to get there alive and, hopefully, on time!

I'm so sorry Barker about your Fiance and the auto accident causing you so much heartaches and pain! Drunk drivers should be put in prison for a long, long time when they have an accident and ruin or kill someone's life, especially when it is more than the first time! Judges just give them a slap on the wrist and let them go with a warning which they ignore and drive while drunk again, again and again! If a drunken driver killed any of my loved ones, I might just feel like hanging them up by their toes to the nearest tree for a few hours or until they cry UNCLE and then have it in their memory for a long, long time! There is no reason for drunk drivers to be free to keep on causing accidents and destroying lives or killing people! Yes, they will have to answer to God, but hopefully He will take vengeance upon them while
they are still here and bring them to their knees to the point of crying out for help and for the saving of their souls....also, those who use habitual drugs and are out of their minds too often! The love of money is the Root of ALL EVIL! May God Bless you with the healing power of Jesus' loving virtue! Amen! Ma Betty

OUCH!!!!! :stretcher: May our Lord and Savior, Jesus, keep on blessing you! Amen ! Ma Betty
