Help with a JW Fishers 8X, Do any of you use this machine on the Pacific North West? What tips and tricks can you share.I love this machine, very deep and saltwater has little or no issues with it.
Where on Finds do you all talk about this PI machine? Thanks

I have had a real curiosity about this detector myself. I live in Oregon and have read about this for both beach hunting and prospecting in rivers.

I have one and do like it very much. There is a lot of questions about it detecting deep and small items. Well first hand experience is Yes it detects deep and it does pick-up small gold. It is a dig all PI machine and I run it on a clean beach at high, but if the beach is full of junk, I turn it down to try and eliminate some of the big deep iron.
I would like to know if anyone is using a larger coil, also how long before the batteries need replacing?

Any How-To Videos out there for the Pulse 8X ??
I have been playing with waist mounting for up to chest deep hunting and it works well if you can find the right placement to still access the controls and keep it out of the way of your swing,. In the water it is o.k. mounted on the shaft, but on the beach it is very heavy and tiring. I also find that for lakes and the beach I usually use the high sensitivity setting and pinpoint on low. How do you all use this machine? Thanks for all the advice. Don

I really like your headset choice, I need to do this. Thanks for the info on the connector required. I also find the HIGH setting and just under the 2 on the meter works best for searching, it really increases the range of detection. I do switch to low to pinpoint, must try your method of pinpointing. In waist deep water I find the control box on the shaft works well for me, but I will try your method of mounting and see if it works better for me. On the Beach is where I really need to find a way to mount the control box to decrease the shaft weight. Thanks Don

Anyone have the upgrade done to have interchangeable coils, what was the cost?
My Fishers headset is crapping out, time to replace them, the Black Widow is not water proof, so do the Gray Ghost ones come close to the volume of the Widow volume? If there is a lot of difference in volume then I need to get the Black Widow ones and keep them out of the water. Comments please.

The 10" coil covers more ground then the 7" but is heavy. The 10" coil is what I use the most. The 10" coil sees my test target 1/4 silver dime with no problem. Anyone have any experience with the 16"?

Have you ever heard of the "Ferrous Hound?" Its a unit that attaches to a VLF or PI close to the coil and helps identify iron. You can run it on all the time,
or just turn it on when you hit an "iffy" target. An audio signal means iron, silence means conductive.
