Keeping it Clean

Felt guilty after reading the section in Andy Sabisch's book about keeping your metal detector clean. So I cut the toe out of a black sock and put it over the handle and put a clear zip lock bag over the remote unit. My minelab handle looks terrible from handling it with muddy hands, so hopefully this sock will take care of all that because I'm not the type to clean things off after every use. Was thinking of putting a walmart bag over the coil but that might cheapen the look of it too much.

I also use a zip lock bag over the control unit. It's called a "portion pack" and almost fits.

I take the controller off and put the whole thing in the bath tub. It is all water proof. I have had mine for 3 years and it looks like new. Just make sure you dry it good.
