TODAY - Preservationists are doing a massive email campaign to Kentucky Legislators. Are Kentucky detectorists asleep?
In an attempt to have a civilized conversation about cooperation between metal detecting and preservationist causes as we approach a vote on SB105, a "preservationist" laughed at me saying "Scott, how stupid are you?"
Well, how stupid am I? I am making all this noise trying to get a few Kentucky detectorists to get off their seat and contact their legislators. Has it worked? "We're not really getting that many calls" says the lady in Frankfort. So, perhaps I am stupid for trying so hard.
PLEASE - contact your Legislator and plainly and politely voice your support for responsible detecting in KY state parks on SB105 (Senate Bill.) The phone call takes FIVE MINUTES.
IMPORTANT: Do not say anything negative about archaeology or archaeologists - that does not work!!!! Take a tone of cooperation! If you get confrontational, it HURTS the cause!
This may be the LAST CHANCE - Please contact your legislators. Tell them you support SB105 12RS for responsible detecting in Kentucky State parks!
