Killer bee info for anyone interested

Thought I'd post what the bees are like and what they do for anyone who may come into the presence of them one day. Swarming bees are no problem - it's when they set up house and make the hive that they feel the need to defend themselves. They tend to make the hive lower in the 8-10 foot range. When a person or animal comes too close the scout bees hit, not sting yet, the person. That's just what they did today to me. All of a sudden there were alot all around me and hitting me - trying to drive me off. As soon as I left the immediate area they all went back into the enclosure in the tot lot. They hit you as a warning to stay away from the hive.

Over the years out detecting I have seen about 5-6 hives/swarms. Twice they have hit me but never stung yet. Although from time to time we see the news that tells about a dog, horse , person being stung hundreds of times. So far they are found in Az, So Cal, Texas & Mexico. So be prepared and if you come into contact with them just quickly move away the way you came. steve in so az

They would freeze to death up here!
Glad we don't have them, I have to take care of several bees and hornets nests every year!

but the experts have discovered they wont be stopped by cold - sooner or later they will be up north and into Canada even. Steve in so az
