knee pads

Going back in the archives of find mall, I haven't found any suggestion on what type of knee pads works best for digging. I'm at that age where help is needed! Thanks

Although I don't personally use knee pads, many of the dealer's websites offer an array of makes and models. I just checked one our sponsoring dealer's website and found several types, ranging from $10 - $30. If I were to buy a pair, I'd try to find some that were lightweight, well padded, flexible and secure fit. Yep, that ought to do it! HH Randy

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy yourself a good pair of roofer's pads. They're less expensive than the ones sold for MD'ing and if you buy two pair you'll have extras should you lose one. The ones I have are foam rubber and have velcro straps that attach above and below the knee. Quick on and quick off and feel good when you've been on your knees a lot.

I wear knee pads. I went to Lowe's and tried on many pair before finding one I liked. Last year I read about another type. Sounded real good. Odered them. I wore them once. They just did not work for me. Good luck, Beale.

Try them on before buying is my advice. I also find the hard foam rubber pads works best. And they fit in my tool bag that I wear when digging. TomB

I was a carpenter for about 20 seasons. I DO like the cheap foam rubber type too(usually black but sometimes green with a material lining), that have only 1(one) elastic velcro strap that goes below the knee joint.

I DO NOT like the expensive ones with 2(two) elastic velcro or solid straps, above and below the knee joint as they cut off the blood circulation in my knee.

I like this kind the very best:
Made of durable molded dense foam material.
Adjustable 1 1/4" elastic straps(one for each knee pad) with hook and loop(velcro) fasteners.
Perfect for the Do-It-Yourselfer as well as the pro.

These 1(one) elastic velcro strap type fastened below the knee also breathe very well helping stop sweat build up, by fitting loose and letting air in from the top.

Those above are made by Kuny's and are of high quality for a low price, but you could find others. Make sure you get a pair that has a material lining inside the foam rubber. Also look for Made in the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, or New Zealand and avoid Made in China if at all possible. This also goes for all purchases but I know it is very hard sometimes.

i don't have to wear knee pads if i don't want to. however i wear them because i like them. i brought some cheaper ones a lowe's. velcro at top and bottom. they stay on good and don't fall down. they are easy on the knees and keep your pants or coveralls dry and out of the mud.

I got mine at Lowe's. I wish I had got them years ago.
