I am using the standard Gray Ghosts with the single volume control. I would prefer dual volume controls but I cheaped out. The sound is still good though. I do like them.

Turn the volume down on the machine.[/quote

yes matey turn the threshold volume down to midway if you want a hum in background but alot of the guys running 2tf turn it down to zero in the belief that with the etrac there is no need for any background noise this is how i run mine and have some awesome finds the etrac lets you know immediately when it has a good target so you wont miss anything if you need to give your ears a rest work a couple of days without earphones you will use more battery but will still hear the good stuff have you got most of the top line discrimmed out as the iron will false round to that number 1 line and give you an annoying high signal any more info just ask we have all been there when i put the kos phones on it just about blew my brains out good luck just keep asking and someone will help you through it happy hunting]

Hi Wiper,
If you want to have a lot more fun and less work & headache then get out of TTF and set up some discrimination with conductive. I promise you the machine works fine, dig the solid reapeatable signals and dont work so hard trying to find that one really difficult deep maxed out target. If you find your area is producing some really great stuff then after you have searched with conduct then go the the TTF and take all day long with super high concentration and search for that ONE target that gives you a headache while trying to super slueth it out.
Grey Ghost...top of the line equipment. But first use the machine to your advantage...it should be fun not painfull.

I agree with ya 100%! Dig a lot less trash in multi co

I guess I'm just crying becouse I want a volume control easier to get to .

The area I'm working is about 300'x300' I've been on it a week now . Very trashy but it got some good stuff there !
I've been picking the bones so to speak in TTF .

for about 10 bucks you can get an in-line volume control from RS,,, you may have to get 1/4 to 3.5mm adapters but it works great

your koss one of the best headphones for TTF, you just need to drop volume in detector menu or buy in line volume control like grouser said.

Stasys is right. I ran most of the first year with the Koss 30's and had the volume on the detector at about 20 or so. It stayed there until I got the SunRay Pro-Golds.

I have fine hearing........and I use max volume on my etrac, I use the koss headphones, and I use TTF...lol

whats the problem?

sunray gold but to get the deep targets leave your machine on full auto and then set your headphones ............ the reason you leave the etrac on max auto is because the deep targets are faint and yes even with your gain all the way up ........

Man there is no way I could run max volume with my Koss's and I lied before. 20 was my pitch setting. My detectors volume on a non-windy day was around 12. That was comfortable. When the wind came up I increased, but I believe 16 or 17 was as high as I could stand it.
