I run on 4 and have been very happy with the results.

i tried this sunday in the shallow surf.................i really liked the results.

i may bring the W O T back out of retirement and give it a try again

i had been as low as 6 with the wot...............but never ventured below, but like i said, results were good sunday with stock 10IN.

Are you saying you are getting 10 inches with the WOT at SENS of 4 ?

I take it you are using an Explorer?

I wonder what one would get in regular soil?

Probably they already know this but . . .
it is sensitivity that allows greater/lesser depth, not Gain. Gain just allows one to hear the weaker signals better.

It seems to me like the Excal has been producing very well for you. I say stick with it. Save the Explorer II for some coin and relic hunting in the fall and winter...see how the other half lives.

It is the Sens setting that cuts back on chatter. All the Gain does is increase/decrease the amplification of the sound from what I understand. You can have your gain at 10 and run the sens down to where it no longer chatters.

it a 20 min. test on the bay using gain at 4 then 3.................it still chatters like heck in the waves, but chatter was bearing..............i used two programs to test, then i tried I M -16........no way it would work there.............chatter was unbearable

near the end of my 20mins., my right shoulder ask me what the heck i was doing to it
