Lake Meadows condomiums Chicago area

Is anyone familiar with this area of ILL. It used to be a union soldier camp back in 1861. It was located 3miles south of Chicago's city limits. "This flat piece of land was transformed into a combination recruit depot, basic training center, and equipping and processing stage for the Union regiments being hastily mobilized and assigned to various armies to the west and south". There were upwards of 75,000 soldiers in and out of Camp Douglas during the war. The area around the Lake Meadows condos with ballfields and parks may be an ideal spot to look for c.w.era relics. Just google it to get an idea as to its size. You can also look up Camp Douglas on wikipedia. This may not be news to anybody in that area, but I thought it was interesting. I am not from the area if someboby needed this info then thats good, like I said I am not from that area.
