Large Unidentified Button

Anyone familiar with this Button?
 
I've seen a pic. of one of these before. I believe it's a British button, but I can't recall if it was from the War of 1812 or sooner. Great looking button.
 
From what I can see it looks like a two piece button. That would date it around the mid 1830s at the earliest.
 
I found this one at the Waterbury website that is very close if not a match for yours. It is listed under the fashion category.

That is the one drawback about their site, it doesn't provide much information. You might contact them and see if they can provide any more information.
