Larger coil

I want to start out saying i really like my minelab xterra 705, i've said it before.... My thing is i was wondering if there is a larger type coil for things such as relic hunting anticipated out for the xterra 705 anytime soon? Larger then the 9 Inch general search coil. But not the heavy monstrosity like the big 15 inch WOT. Just asking, and hoping.

There are already 10.5" HF & MF DD coils available from Minelab. Is that what you're looking for?

Hi old Longhair, i thought that the biggest search coils for the 705 was the stock concentric and DD in 9 inch. I will look into the 10.5 coils. But i do think a 12-13 inch DD for relic hunting that isn't terribly heavy would be great.:)

Coiltek, the same company that makes the Digger coil, offers a 15" coil:

I hope I'm not out of line here since Coiltek is an authorized supplier and sponsor. I don't know of anyone using these as most of us are coinshooters, but maybe this is an option for you.

I'm waiting on Coiltek or Minelab to make a 6x9 like the ones it already does but in 3khz for the XTerra's

My 9-inch concentric at 7.5kHz weighs 15.4 ounces, with the skid plate. My 10.5 inch Minelab DD 7.5kHz coil is 20.4 ounces, including the skid plate. My 7.5kHz All Terrain coil from Coiltek is 24.8 ounces, including the skid plate. HH Randy

Me too! :shrug:HH Randy

I hit a field next to my house with the 3kHz 15" All Terrain and hit four of the five coins I took from that site. The fifth one was found with the 6" 3kHz Digger. Point being, that even where there are loads of square nails, the big coil still works wonders at responding to high conductors. Going back in with a smaller coil was prudent, and it did find the best coin. But I don't know that I wouldn't have found it with the big coil had I taken it a second time, and attacked from a different direction (as I did with the small coil). For field hunting, especially first trips where you're trying to nail down the area of an old home site, the 15" covers well, separates well, and finds the goods.

The weight of the coil isn't a big deal. I just shorten the shaft length 'til it just clears my toes when I sweep. That puts the weight more in my hand, and not on my arm trying to hold it out.
