Larger than Stock Coils on the F70/75..

Who has actually used some of the larger than stock coils on their F series machines.

I am not looking for them to be deeper but I don't want them to lose depth due to instability etc.

I don't have the 11"DD just the 10" con on my F70. I would like a slightly larger coil than the 11"DD if I can but also not wanting to buy a POS coil.

usually I have tried these by now but actually the F series are the only machines I have not tried aftermarket coils on.

I wanted the N.E.L. Hunter coil as it is a perfect size for me but no one has it in stock...and SEF butterfly seems a bit big?

Any feedback.

Check down the posts just a little ... to this thread: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?37,1843844

I've got a F75LTD and I like the 11 inch coil for dirt until it gets real trashy, then I go smaller. The 10 inch that you have as standard is the coil I like a little better for the occasions when I take it to the salt water beach.

No one has the 13" Ultimate coil and Kellyco did not have any idea when they would get any ine. The 15" is a bit much for me.

Really wanted the N.E.L. Hunter but thatw as out of stock too. So will give the Tornado a try. 12x13 is tad bigger than I wanted but not much of an option. I have still not heard alot of great things on the SEF for the Fisher in the 10x12 size. Not saying it is bad either other than heavy and I know they are heavy as I have had 2 on other machines.

Oh well..we will see.....just want alittle larger for field hunting than what the Fisher 11"DD gives.

I gave the Fisher 15" coil a try and ended up selling it. For me, the weight of the coil really killed the excellent balance of the F75.

The weight of that 15" coil was a "lkiller" for a lot of the guys.----Wonder if anyone is still actually using that coil?

That was why I would not try one...and I don't like anything bigger than 12 to 13 inches anyway...even then that is tops of my comfort zone.

The 12x13 N.E.L should be here tomorrow...was scheduled for today but as always USPS is a bit late. All I want is a decent balance on the machine with better coverage for fields without any crazy instability. Not expecting any more in ground depth than the 11" Fisher DD coil...if it is well great but if not fine. Just a bit more coverage....I hope.
I just can't find anyone with feedback on the coil and using it on an F75/F70. Plenty of decent feedback on them installed on other brands just not a Fisher.

my f75 came with the SEF 15" coil. I haven't used it yet... I bought a smaller coil as where I relic hunt is grown up and it would be harder to swing a big coil there. I may try it the next time I go since it would be easier to swing now since it wouldn't be as thick now..

Scott i have a SEF 10x12 on my F75 fells pretty light to me. have not tried it yet ground to hard. I had the same coil on my T2 SE worked great. When we can get together in the spring for a hunt you can try the 10X12 SEF. Also i use two NEL coils on my E-Trac Sharpshooter & Hunter both work great.

Hey Frank....cool to know. I will have the N.E.L. tomorrow hopefully. I have a good test garden planted that I keep plowed. I plant a good garden...complete with iron forged nails and a variety of targets....some deeper than most detectors I use can ID. Funny a quarter at 10" here is just out of range of most...so I keep one at 10". Anyway...I hope to test it this weekend when it warms up to 25.
I have my second Russian detector...it came today. Really nice stuff...but won't be able to really use it for months I don't think.

Well the weight of the coil is pretty good. Balance is good for a coil this size.

Ran it through the test garden I have. I have quite a variety of different targets at different depths. Without going into way too much detail I would say...about the same depth as the 11"DD...ceratnly not deeper by much if any. It has better coverage and thatw as why I got it. Stability is pretty good and not alot of EMI and brother...I have alot around my house.
For a DD it did not false on my handhammered nails and spikes I have buried which was good and target seperation is pretty good actually.
Since it is mid winter in Maine not much chance of doing any real relic hunting now but atleast the coil will work well for the reasons I bought it. Now if you expect more depth over the 11"DD I can't say I see it BUT.....my ground here is pretty bad...GB is always like 89-90 and the FE is atleast half way so you are not going to get much more depth with any DD coil over the 11" DD anyway. If you have nice mild soil then I think you would see maybe an extra inch in that case.
Overall a nice coil...seems well made. Oh...one problem...the coil bolt now is too short as the ears on the N.E.L are wider or actually fatter so I have to go get a new longer nylon bolt...oh well no biggie.
