Went back to the place I got the two halves in a while back. Pounded the heck out of that spot for an hour or two and not finding anything just started wandering around in the woods. Got the '59 quarter, and 43'and '68 dimes next to an old fire pit. All in the same hole with 6 pennies. The nearly dateless 1909 came out of the old road that cuts through the woods. The 1852 US cent was in a very wet ravine bottom. Around 3 I went back to the half $ spot and after rolling over a big log got the 1890 British cent and the 1900 Canadian.

A few weeks ago I said that I had found a spot I'd been looking for since late summer and had heard about many years ago. I think I was wrong. That spot saw heavy use for about 60 years. The coins I've found at this one all seem to have been lost in the same year judging by wear. Maybe all on the same day. I also found a 3 Merry Widow's tin there. The coins all date from 1890 to 1918.
Keep getting this image of a young soldier just back from Europe. He's taken his girlfriend out for an evening of celebrating and they end up down the old road in his buggy or maybe a brand new Model T. Both have had a bit too much to drink and she starts a little game of giggle 'n chase. He happily obliges but his pants are around his ankles and as they run whats left of his weeks pay scatters out behind including the English penny he had brought home as a souvenir.
Oh well, funny picture anyway
