Last nights news.

Here I am. It was on last night. One of the things I am proud of. Even though I find them and can rightfully keep them, I like to give them back whenever I can.

You looked sooooooo professional.....calm, cool and collected.

This TV presentation will surely add lots of positives to our hobby .

Great job...how long did it take for you, and the "crew" to put this together....were there "retakes"...and splices..etc...?

Congratulations on a really nice job.

We now have a celebrity on our forum!:super:

That was great! Thanks for helping others and our hobby! :)

sorry about the guy with the wallet. I guess some people think that everyone owes them something. JoeG here was able to return a ring he had found. A friend found a lady's class ring with one of my detectors in his first half hour of metal detecting. She had her name engraved on the inside, we know the school, contacted them to no avail. The local TV station in Dayton, Ohio ran the story by interviewing my friend and we still can't find her. Thanks for being an ambassador for the hobby.

That is awesome!!!! Congrats!!!!! Great ambassador to our hobby!!!:clapping:

Great story Bob. Very cool to return those rings.

I returned a Platinum wedding ring last Saturday. Like you, the look on people's faces is priceless.

I just recieved another call from the TV reporter, Jason Carr. I will be on the 5:00 news tonight and this weekend also. He said the response has been tremendeous!! I already have one lead to find a ring!! They called me at work today because of the story last night!!

Thanks all for your replies. This is good news for us detectorists in this area anyway.

Sherry and I both let out an 'oh' when he ended the interview with Bob-O-link.

Congrats Bob on those great finds. Wished I had learned to scuba dive years ago. Oh well. Bob

does that mean we are rubbing elbows with a :video: 'star'? :lmfao:

Bob - That's really great that you are a positive person for us all ! WTG, wish we had water here to hunt. I have a 1280 X but have been to a beach only a couple times. steve in so az

Well I don't exactly feel like a movie star. Nobody has asked for my autograph! No paporotsi has been lurking around the corners either. Well not yet anyway!! I will be in two more papers soon though. The Ann Arbor News has contacted me and also the Jackson Citizen Patriot. I have never been on TV before and it was nice for the reporter to let me know today that they had a lot of calls to run it more. I have received 2 calls for lost rings and hopefully more will come my way. This enables me to get into private lakes where I have been able to get things that nobody has had access to also. Kind of a nice reward in itself.

I am very happy to find this forum. I hope I can contribute positively to it and help others here as you have picked up my spirits some. Thank you all!!

Good going, scubadetector, on being on TV and returning the rings to the owners! I can imagine the surprise and gladness they experienced by your giving the rings back! Sounds as though you will be getting a lot more water places to dive and detect in for lost items! Glad you feel uplifted and may God bless you always! Because of you the detecting hobby gets a better review and many can see differently what is done and will be done! Congrats!

God Bless!

Bob,

That was one of the best, well produced news coverage of a MD'r I have ever seen. Who knows? Maybe your own TV show?

Thanks again for the very kind remarks. I forgot to answer the one on how long it took. They came to my work for a 3 hour photoshoot to do this story. A few retakes but not many. It was a lot of fun. Hopefully the next one will go smoother. It will be in a few weeks with a different reporter and crew.
