Last relic/old coin hunt of the year.

And, it appears I left some old stuff yet for next year. I worked a spot this morning that was loaded with iron for some reason. Dug things like battery connectors, nuts and bolts and stuff I didn't have a clue of what it was. I dug the pocket watch within the first 15 minutes of the hunt and from that point it was pretty much down hill from there. I did run into the 3 Merry Widows again and the 1 toasted wheat cent looks like it could be a 1913, but not sure. Although silver coin finds became quite lean the last six weeks of 2011 for me, I have ended up with 142 silver coins, 38 IH cents, 11 V nickels and 7 Buffalo nickels. The first picture is of the spot I was working through and around when I hit the pocket watch. The 2nd pic is of the watch fresh from the ground. Happy New Year everyone. HH jim tn

thanks. You guys are great! It has been a fun year. Although I don't set goals, I sure do love the challenge of finding silver coins. Mud, I just found out company isn't arriving until afternoon, so I do have one more shot in the morning for my 200th silver coin for the year. Of course, it would take a long lost bank bag to do so.:rofl::rofl: Happy New Year. HH jim tn
 
Jim, that is some great count on silver finds this year. Am I mistaken or is there actually a finish on that watch? Ive found perhaps 3 whole or in pieces in the last several years, but usually plated and worn away to base metal only. Im gonna try one more day in the fields up north here in NY state, I shouldn't complain though there are many years up here where you are done in November. If its above 35, dry, and there's no wind I keep swinging. Happy New Year CO

osgood, I'm not sure what the finish is on the watch, but nothing special as the elements were taking its toll on the finish. mud, no Barber dime or silver at all this morning. A few pieces of clad, zinc's and modern bullets was it for three hours. rick, I think I am going to need a couple of fresh spots. I spent this whole year on this one hunting the fields during the tic months and the woods last winter and the same so far this winter. Although one can never get it all, I have the sense though, that this site is beginning to play out. Unfortunately, so many of the older sites around are in bad area's. Happy New Year all.
