Hello everyone. Sorry for the delay on posting the finds for last weekend's outings. I had to work out in Park Rapids, Minn. Mon-Thurs. and couldn't get anything posted until now.
First off, I would like to remind everyone that most finds seen here are of Pre-buried Coins buried by Club Members with a few that I won during this event. So lets get this thing up and running shall we!
Saturday, I attended yet another Club Hunt that Minnkota Artifact & Recovery Group puts on twice a year and it was another fun event to attend with plenty of goodies for everyone to bring back home with them. The Hunt got started around 11:00am on Saturday with about 30+ hunters in attendance.
The first hunt consisted of a few Hundred Half Dollars and 200+ Tokens which could be redeemed for a chance to win a White's Prizm 4 (I believe that is what the Model was) Metal Detector which retailed for $450.00. There were also other Coins given away with these Tokens that were turned in for Raffle Tickets. Dale, the fella I detect with, was the lucky
person to win the detector (which was given away after all the hunts were done). Someone had asked what a person would do if they won the White's Detector and I believe it was Tim that said "going to use it as a Pin Pointer" which got a lot of people laughing. Dale was pending sale of the detector since a person attending the hunt offered $350 for it. I did win a Clad Proof Quarter though but nothing special.
We then all had a quick lunch and boy....was the food good once again. Thanks Rick and Lavonne for cooking the Sloppy Joe's up and all the other members that brought something to share at this great event.
We then had the Silver Hunt. $50 was payed by each person and Jeff Kehl went out and bought up the Silver for this event. Tim, Rick, and Dale got a Half Dollar each while the other I don't remember off hand who got. There were only 4 Halves buried I believe since Jeff mainly bought up Dimes and a bunch of Silver Quarters as well to have more targets in the field. Everyone had fun and got there share of Silver and Clad Halves.
I myself was able to retrieve 60 Halves and 19 Tokens from the first hunt. On the second hunt, I was able to dig 14 Silver Quarters and 38 Dimes for a total of 52 Coins. I figured on Saturday that I had made $23 during the Silver Hunt since it cost me $50 to attend so I was a happy camper. The Half Dollar and Token Hunt was a Free Hunt with money taken out of the Club Account for this event. All in all, it was another very fun event to attend. I should also mention that this was our Fall Hunt since we couldn't hold the Spring Hunt in the location we generally hold it due to the Park being totally under water so the big event for the 10th Annual Minnkota Artifact & Recovery Group Spring Hunt was post-postponed until the fall.
After the Hunt Events were over, we did Find Of The Month Competition. I was only lucky to win 1st Place with my 1893 Canadian Dime and get another Silver Dime but I did get a 2nd or 3rd a few times in other categories. I won a Walking Liberty Half Dollar for Membership Prize and also won a '64 Kennedy Half Dollar in another Raffle.
There will be a pic of a Silver Dime, Walker, Kennedy and Proof Quarter which was prizes won during Saturday...just thought I would point that out.
As you can see, Saturday was nothing but fun, fun, fun and can't wait until the fall hunt is here to bring home plenty more Silver for the Hoard. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunts.
P.S. Last Sunday's Finds will be posted soon also. Stay Tuned!!!
