Last Sunday's little haul.

Hello again. Back with another successful hunt from last Sunday. Let's get it going!!!

Sunday....Tim, Dale and I set out once again in search for more goodies for our collections and did pretty well.

As I was driving my newly acquired 2002 Saturn SL1 that I got from Tim (Thanks Tim!)....which I was taking on it's first Silver Run, Tim was looking around the back seat for something. Next thing I hear from Tim is "Great! I forgot my Digger!) We were about 100 miles away now and couldn't turn around to get it so Dale gave Tim a Pocket Knife to dig with, which only had about a 3" Blade on it. Being Sunday, there wasn't anything open in the area where we were out detecting either so that added to the problem. We did stop at a Cenex Convenience Store and Tim was able to buy a 6" Long Straight Screwdriver but it just wasn't cutting it like the Lesche Digger does. I had forgotten to put my New Lesche in my Accessories Bag and Dale didn't have an extra Digger either for Tim to use but we eventually took turns when Tim found a Signal so he didn't have to do all the digging with a Knife and Screwdriver. I told Dale..."just watch! Now Tim will end up kickin' butt since he forgot his digger" and that is what happened during the Sunday's Outing.

First stop was a Park that looked to be old but didn't really have too much for finds though. Before I get started with the story, you need to know that my 6th Sense was working again this trip out. On the way out to do some detecting, I mentioned to Tim and Dale that I wanted to start June's Find Of The Month Finds off with a Barber Quarter since I have been doing really well with them so far this year and so happened....it came true. As we detected this Park, I wasn't finding too much except a few Clad Coins until I got a good enough Signal by a Shelter. It bounced 28-30 on Digital and showed about 8" Deep. I thought maybe it was going to be a Clad Coin that got buried Deep when the Shelter was made but I was wrong. I dug a plug and seen Silver when I got down to the 8" mark. At first it looked like a Dime since dirt was covering it up for the most part and I was really surprised to see that it was.....an 1893-O Barber Quarter!:surprised: As predicted by me, my first Old Keeper of the Month came true and I just started laughing when I seen it staring back at me. Tim asked what I had found and I then asked him what I said I was going to find for the first Coin for the Month. He replied back "Barber Quarter" and I said Yes! He just stood there shaking his head. Dale then asked what I had just found and I told him Barber Quarter! He couldn't believe it either. This is my 5th Barber Quarter of the year (only found 1 last year) so I'm really doing well this year on those Coins.

We continued hunting for awhile and finally decided after about an hour and a half that it would be wise to check out some other sites. Dale was able to find a Merc and a Wheatie. Tim found a few Wheats but unsure if he got any Silver. I found a Rosie and a couple Wheats also. I also found a Silver Ring with a White Stone that has different colored sparkles in it. Off to site #2.

We hit a Fairgrounds for the second site since we had already been here once before and Tim had done well getting a Barber Half and other goodies weeks ago from this spot. Tim went looking around and found himself a long piece of Iron that had a Chisel Like End on it. You could tell it was cut off of something with a Torch and if it wasn't for this piece of Iron which was well over 2' Long and about 1" Thick, Tim wouldn't have found what he did and of course this was his turning point on getting some nice stuff and somewhat kickin our butts once again. We hunted this spot for a few hours and the finds were coming nicely. I dug a Silver Quarter, a few Merc's and a few Rosie's from here once again. I also found a few more Wheats and a Chain with what I thought at first was going to be a Gold Ring but turned out to be a Kids Ring attached to it. I also dug up a Toy Car here. Dale found a few Wheats and a few Silver Dimes also. What Tim got kinda ticked me off but then again when I thought about it....he really did deserve to find what he did since he was really struggling without his digger on Sunday. Tim told me that he had found a few goodies and then proceeded to tell me what they were. He said he got a good signal and dug it with the Iron Bar. He couldn't believe his eyes!!! A Franklin Half Dollar! A little ways from this was another Signal that sounded about the same. He dug that and a '64 Kennedy Half! He really couldn't believe it now!!!! Then he walked just a bit more and WHAM!!!!, Silver Quarter! I just couldn't believe that he just nailed 2 Halves and a Silver Quarter in a row!!! :surprised: I told Dale what he had found and he just got disgusted and couldn't understand how Tim is always walking into the "Big Stuff" like he does. I told him I don't know either but he is just plain lucky and I told Dale I was right about Tim not having a digger and still kickin some butt which came true.

We then headed over to find a different location since Dale was tired of digging Clad trying to find Silver and I was getting tired of the hard ground which was making my palm very sore. Next stop ended up being another Park.

This Park we hadn't ever tried so we didn't know what would happen. We hunted until almost dark with Dale finding a Merc or 2 and a few Wheats, Tim finding a few Wheats also. I was only able to land a few Wheats and a Good For Token.

All in all, it turned out to be another great day of detecting for all 3 of us. I was the only one to land a Barber Sunday also which really was odd since someone else should have picked up a Dime somewhere but didn't happen. I think Tim had 10 Silver at least and Dale had to be close to 10 Silver also.

Now onto the totals.

I found 10 Silver which included 1 Barber Quarter dated 1893-O, 1 Washington Quarter dated 1958-d, 4 Mercury Dimes dated 1937,1940,1943,1944-d, and 4 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1948-s,1950-d,1961-d, and 1962-d. I also found 1 Token which reads Good For One Dollar On Purchase Of $10 Or More / One To A Customer / Trade This In Today with $1.00 in the Middle of the one side and on the other it reads Clothing On Credit / Satisfaction / Honor / Service / Menter / 418 Nicollet Ave. I also managed 26 Wheats dated 17,18,(2)19,28,34,37-d,38-d,39,39-d,4?,40-d,41-d,44,44-d,45,45-d,(5)46-d,48-s,(2)50-d and 58-d. For Misc., I found a Hotwheels Car, part of a Stop Sign (actually was found on Saturday during the Club Hunt), Sterling Silver Ring, and a Necklace with a Junk Ring on it.

Well, that does it for this time and thanks to you all that took the time to look at what I uncovered once again on my outing. To you all this Memorial Day Weekend....Good Luck and HH!

It's amazing just how much stuff I keep coming up with. Sure has been an interesting year so far as Silver goes that's for sure. Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

It sure is a blast when you have a hunting partner but can be a real drag if that partner is the one making all the better finds. I just go out and dig what I come across and if I am the lucky one to make the better finds, then so be it. I just like digging my share and if I get beat, so what....there's always another day of detecting. Glad you like the postings. It's been a wild ride already on Silver Finds this year and hope it continues for us. Hope you get out and land a load yourself Gold Nuggets! Thanks for the response and Good Luck and HH to you.

just plain ole luck. Some of the sites have been one's that we just happened upon while out hunting. Research is where it is though if you're looking for them long forgotten spots that have been gone for a long time and the only way to know about them spots is by the research done. Thanks for the response Bryce and if I ever make it down your way, I will let you know. By the way again! Where are you located at just incase an emergency hunting trip comes up? Good Luck and HH to you.:detecting:

Tim had 3 Diggers with him this time so I don't think that will happen again unless of course he breaks the one he is using at the time. Thanks for the reply and hope your getting out and making a few finds this year also. Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

I just wish I could have recorded every time Tim went to dig a hole with that heavy piece of iron bar. He kinda looked like a MAD MAN trying to kill the ground! I figured his luck would be with him since he forgot that digger but I had no idea he would pull 2 Halves from that site. Now all he has to do is go back and find a Walker and he would have found all the Halves except for the Capped Bust and Seated. He has been told by another buddy of his that he is to only dig with his fingers from now on also. Now only if he would listen! Thanks for the reply and Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.
