Last two hunts.

These are my finds from last weekend and this weekend:
1950 rosie
1964 rosie
45 merc
40 merc
10k gold Navy ring
18k gold band
junk ring
bunch of wheats
two old buttons
clad top of photo
old penny with nothing on it,smooth.
misc
Everything but the 45 merc and two wheats were found in old farm fields. The merc and the two wheats were found in the same hole.
The other merc and 4 wheats were also found in a single hole.

Looks like a couple good hunts. How thick is the smooth penny? I found a plain cent (so I thought) that turned out to be an 1858 Flying Eagle after closer inspection.

Very good finds. Questions - The farm fields you hunt, do you just hunt anywhere in the field or only where a homestead used to be? Also, when was your area settled? I am surrounded by farm country, that was settled no earlier then the 1850's and as late as the 1880's. I have hunted in fields where an old home used to be and done OK, but never hunted just anywhere in the fields because I thought the odds of something of value in this fields in very low ... One of the fields that I hunt dates to the mid 1600s and the other two that I've been hunting are colonial.I hunt the whole field and when I'm done I hunt it again and again.These fields had homesteads around them at some point. The 1600s field is where I found the Navy ring at about 5". Thanks,
