Here's finds I found Last Weekend when I was out on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. So let's get to it shall we!

Friday Afternoon, Dale and I decided to go try our luck out a Country School Site that he has known about for awhile. He found it while Pheasant Hunting a few years ago and never got around to detecting it until now. We headed out and stopped by another Country School that we had previously detected and got many Older Coins from. I told Dale that we would try it for a short time since we had our Club Meeting on Friday Night and I wanted to get the most out of the few hours that we had to detect. We hunted for about a half hour or so and I told Dale that we best be moving on if we wanted to get any last minute Finds for the meeting. Dale found a 1917 Wheatie and an Unbroken Plate that he eyed laying in the weeds. I only came up with a Whatzit Item that has a Pat. Date of 1890, a 1940 Jefferson Nickel, and an Old Key Wind.

The Second Country School House, and the last stop of the day, turned out to be pretty good. As soon as I headed off detecting, about 20' from the Van I found a Wheatie. The School was long gone but some of the Playground Equipment was still present. I headed over towards the Slide and got a nice Nickel Reading that showed about 6" Deep. I dug it and out popped a Buffalo Nickel. I looked closer and it was a 1915-d, which was a better date which starts out at $16 in G-4. I covered the hole and about 3' away, get another Nickel Reading at about the same depth as the Buffalo Nickel. I dug it and out pops a 1940-s Jefferson Nickel. We worked the site pretty hard but there is still plenty more Keepers waiting for another round some other time. The School Yard was very large and we didn't do too much Patterning of the area so who knows what else is out there. At the end of the days hunt, I also had 5 Wheats, a Silver Rosie, an Airplane Pin which was the best find I think of the hunt, a 4-H Pin, and a Sterling Silver Bracelet. Dale found a Silver Rosie, a few Wheats, and a Badge Item that read 4th Of July Celebration, which must have been some novelty item to commemorate that holiday. We then headed out to Chaffee to the Club Meeting. I took 5 1st Places, a 2nd and a 3rd on some of my finds and Dale got 1st with his 4th Of July Celebration Item in the Relic Category.

Also, to the Club Members. I took a note down of the finds I got on Friday so I could take them out for the upcoming Month. Thought I would let you know so everything is kept fare on the next meetings finds.

Saturday, Dale and I decided to do a little Park Hunting at the Park where I got the Barber Dimes the weekend before. Dale wanted to try out the E-TRAC that Tim borrowed him to see if there was any difference between this machine and his Explorer XS in Depth and Separation. He used it for about 4 hours and only found 1 Wheatie along with some Deeper Clad. He then got his XS out and found a Merc 10' after he started hunting again. By the end of the hunt, Dale got 5 or 6 Silver, 1 being a Barber Dime and another an 1891 Seated Dime, a bunch of Wheats, 1 Indian Head, and a few other things. He wasn't impressed with the E-TRAC after I started kickin' his butt in the beginning but he did like how smooth it ran. I told Dale that there was more things on the E-TRAC than our XS's and that he just needed more time in using it. As for my finds, I found 6 Silver, a bunch of Wheats, 3 Indians, a Marksman Pin and an Aluminum Bracelet. I never found any Barber in the area where I had found 4 last time so I don't know if I was just that lucky in walking over the exact areas where they were or what but it sure is weird how that sometimes happens.

Sunday, I headed out by myself to a Park that Tim and I had worked about a month ago. We really pounded this Park to submission, but that didn't stop me from still finding many Keepers in the same spots we had worked. There is a Beach on this Park also which was another reason that I wanted to try it again to see if I could find a Gold Ring but that just didn't happen on this hunt. I did find 2 Wheats on the Beach though so there is potential out in the water also for Old Coins and Jewelery. Most all finds on Sunday were found doing a Crawl with the Pro Coil and a lot of these Targets were barely audible, almost like Iron Falses but I played with them enough to know that something was directly under the Coil before I dug them. At the end of the hunt from this Pounded Park, at least that is what I had thought on arrival, I had found 5 Silver Dimes, a bunch more Wheats, 3 Indians, a V-Nickel, 2 Buffalo Nickels, 6 Older Jefferson Nickels, a Good For Token, a Britney Spears Item, a Whatzit, a Junk Watch and a Musketball. Most all these Coins were 10"+ Deep. The Park still has life in it yet so another trip was made this Saturday and a few more Keepers were found but that's for the next Post. Onto the Totals!

I got a total of 12 Silver. They were 5 Mercury Dimes dated 1931-s,1935,(2)1944,1945-s, and 7 Roosevelt Dimes dated 1952-d,1953-d,1956-d,1957-d,(2)1959-d, and 1964-d. As for Nickels, I did a haul on them. I found 12 Nickels and they were 1 V-Nickel dated 1903, 3 Buffalo Nickels dated 1913,1915-d,1923, and 8 Jefferson Nickels dated (2)1940,1940-s,1946,1946-d,1949,1953, and 1957-d. There were 6 Indian Heads found and dated 1886,1901,(2)1903,(2)1905 and 3 Older Canadian Pennies which were dated 1924,1939 and 1957. Rest of Totals coming up in Part:2 with Pics. Hope you enjoy! Good Luck and HH.[attachment 108678 DirtySilver.jpg][attachment 108679 CleanedSilver.jpg][attachment 108680 DirtyNickels.jpg][attachment 108681 CleanedNickels.jpg][attachment 108682 DirtyIndiansampCanadianCents.jpg][attachment 108683 CleanedIndiansampCanadianCents.jpg]

Here's more of the haul fellas. I got a Good For Token which reads Good For 5c In Trade on the front and on the back reads Herb's. It turned out pretty nice and now I wish it would have had a Town Name on it. The Foreign Coin is just that. All I know is that it must be Asian and the size of a Quarter. As for Wheats, I found 43 of them. They are dated 09,11,13,(2)17-d,18,(3)19,(2)19-s,(3)20,26,30-d,30-s,31,33-d,36-d,41-s,42,(4)44-d,(2)45,(4)45-d,(2)46,(5)46-d,46-s,47-d,48-d, and 53-d. The Misc. Finds will be in Part:3. Thanks for looking and Good Luck and HH to you on your hunts.[attachment 108684 DirtyTokenampForeignCoin.jpg][attachment 108685 CleanedTokenampForeignCoinFront.jpg][attachment 108686 CleanedTokenampForeignCoinBack.jpg][attachment 108687 DirtyWheats.jpg][attachment 108689 CleanedWheats.jpg]

Here's the Misc. Finds. They included a really neat Old Airplane Pin that I found at the Country School House Yard that has a lot of Detail to it, which unfortunately isn't shown in the Pic, a Junk Watch with the Letter M in the middle for Maker, a Pin that must have been the shape of a Heart that has 3 Leaves on it, the Whatzit item up top that has a Pat. Date of 1890, an Aluminum Bracelet with the name of "Donnie" inscribed on it, a Sterling Silver Bracelet without any name, a Marksman Pin, a Britney Spears Hit Clips item (I wonder if the kid that had this threw it away due to Britney's Career Down Swing or if it was actually lost:shrug::crazy::rofl:), an Aluminum Button, a Musket Ball, a Key Wind, and a 4-H Pin that has First on Top and N. Dak. on the bottom. It also has a Pat'd Date of 12-23-21 on the back of it. Well, that's the last of the haul and I hope you have enjoyed the Story and Finds that I made on this outing. Good Luck and HH to you all and thanks for looking.[attachment 108690 DirtyMisc..jpg][attachment 108691 CleanedMisc..jpg]

What I do is take Dawn Dish Soap and wet a Brass Brush and scrub the Nickel when wet 1 time thoroughly and rinse. If they are still Red, then I do them a 2nd time. If they are still not to your liking, then I sometimes will use Brasso Polish which will give them a better shine and make them look more natural. Also, if you have a Rock Tumbler, you could put them in that with some Aquarium Gravel and Water and let them spin for an hour or so. If you have a Rock Tumbler and need more info on it, contact Rick(ND) through Members Only Messaging and he will tell you his secrets on how to clean up Pennies or whatever else you have that you want to clean up. Hope this helps and Good Luck and HH to you. Thanks for the reply!

you had a SUPER weekend. You dig a lot of silver my friend. Heck...you dig a lot of other nice coins too. Congrats on all those nickles. That takes dedication...and patience....AND a good set of knees:thumbup: I'm always so pressed for time...I neglect those lower conductor hits most of the time. I get lazy...but before long...the lower conductor hits will be all that's left at a lot of places. It's almost that way now at a lot of parks. Take care buddy...and nice huntin'.

Do you mean a hard brass brush? Like the ones in Home Depot? Does'nt that mess up the coin? I mean looking at your nickles they look great so I guess not!..But yes I have a tumbler also. Just want to get the 'red out' of them. Also, can using the brush or tumbler wear out the date? Sorry about all the questions but Ive tried cleaning nickles with plenty of elbow grease to no avail..Thanks again James and HH!!:detecting:

If you go to an Automotive Store, you can find a Brass Brush that is used for Detailing. If your not sure what I mean by this, all you have to do is ask the Clerk for a Brass Brush and they should take you right to it. As far as hurting the Coin or Scratching it, it won't damage it at all since Brass is a Softer Metal and will only wear when used on Hard Surfaces like Copper, Nickel, or what have you. Just make sure not to use it on Silver. As for the Date, No Problem. If the Date is gone after you clean the Nickel, go to your Local Coin Dealer and ask for a Bottle of Nic-A-Date Date Restorer for Nickels. This is an Acid that eats away just a tiny bit around the softer Metal Surface Area's of the Date on the Nickel and it will bring the Date back to where it is readable again. If you look closely at the 2nd Buffalo Nickel in my Pics, you will see when that Coin was Dirty, that the Coin didn't have a Date on it. In the Cleaned Pic, that Buffalo Nickel has a clean spot on the Date Area and the Date is readable. This is what the Nickel will look like when you use the Nic-A-Date on it. You have to remember that if the Nickel isn't a rare one and is just a common date, that the Nickel isn't worth much anyways due to the pitting from the ground conditions and that using this method of Date Restoring or Cleaning of the Nickels, that it won't make it worth less since there wasn't much value in the first place. I hope this helps you out on your question. If not, I'll answer your next question when they come. Also, if you contact Rick(ND), either through Member Only Messaging or going to his Banner on the White's Forum (R&L Enterprises) and contacting him this way, Rick will give you some super tips in getting them Nickels to look just like they did before getting lost. Good Luck and HH to you.

I'm glad you like my posts and all the finds I am so fortunate to find on my outings. That was a great couple days hunting and the finds were fun to dig. I'm sure you will like the finds that will be coming up later this week from my Saturday Hunt this weekend so keep a look out for it. Good Luck and HH to you on your next hunt.:detecting:

The Nickels are getting easier to listen for and I only dug a few Pull Tab Tails and a few Crown Caps that read good like a Nickel does in getting these Nickels. Sometimes, I will find the 1st Nickel and after that, I will remember that Tone so when I am swinging, I can listen for it and sometimes, I will be right on the money and dig another Nickel when I come across that Signal again. But you know how Nickels can be. Your always going to dig Pull Tab Tails, Crushed Pull Tabs, Rusty Crown Caps, and other items that read just like a Nickel so there is really no way of digging just Nickels without digging some Junk. And your right about a good set of Knee's Bryce. That's a lot of Up's and Down's, that's for sure and that isn't counting the New Coins and the Trash I dug in these outings either! I'm glad you like all the Coins and other finds I make on my outings and I love seeing what you dig up in your neck of the woods also. Thanks for looking and replying Bryce and hope to see you dig more great Coins before the Big Freeze. Good Luck and HH buddy!

Nice finds once again James.:clapping: Don't forget to save a couple for me when I make it out your way one of these days. Good luck on your next outing. HH.

If the days were only longer instead of getting shorter now, I would love to have kept Plugging away at the finds. But then again, I better save some for next year. Glad you liked the post and pics Phil. Sure was a lot of digging. Good Luck and HH to you when you get out and do some hunting next.

Awesome job James. You sure do find a lot of silver. I can't wait to hear your year end totals. I think you will easily take first place in the silver category.

Keep up the great work. I love reading your posts.
