Late Year find 1724 KGI Halfpenny

Don in SJ

Member
I got out for a short hunt this morning and gave up quickly, but on the way back to my truck I got a nice loud coin reading and at only 4 inches was a old copper.
After cleaning it up at home I could make out a 1724 date on this King George I Halfpenny. I got a 1724 Woods Hibernia earlier in the year so both were my oldest coin finds for the year.

That is AWESOME!!!! I couldn't even imagine digging something that OLD. You have it made Don! Good thing you kept on Detecting to your Truck. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.

It won't be very long, and that coin will become 300 years old !

And you say it was only 4 inches deep,
I wonder why it didn't get to greater depths ?

like the coin I found but on mine he's facing left. I posted below with the G II halfpenny "with the wrong date of 1774" Im not sure of the date on mine its worn real bad. Sweet find Don, hope you find alot more in 2008. HH Johnny nj
