latest total silver for 2011

We've had some better weather down here in western Ky, which gave me a chance to hunt more often than some folks. I posted some silver finds earlier this year and am updating my total for the year 2011. I am still hunting at the old carnival ground and continue to be impressed with the amount of silver I am recovering. There is at least 6 to 8 inches of fill on this spot and everything I'm am digging is from below that level.

I am spending a lot of time with the SE I bought last year, and continue to learn something about it every hunt I have. The Minelabs are truly amazing on deep silver!

Thanks to everyone for helping me get started with this machine! Regards!

What kind of settings do you use while hunting for silver.

I hunted in preset for about 10 hunts with the SE, then moved up to Bryce's settings. I run some in manual sensitivity 24-26, but stay with Semi 26 if the ground changes a lot. I really like variability at 10 to hear that high chirp on silver, and I know most people like the smartfind screen, but I prefer the digital screen enlarged for my old poor eyes. When I hear the high tone chirp, I slow down and work the target, listening for repeatability and watching the digital screen, paying special attention to the ferous number. I like that ferrous number to stay low, but depth and other factors really determine that number of course. If I pinpoint and the target is deep, then I allow more for the ferrous number. That good high conductive number to match the high tone and low ferrous number with good repeatability is what I look for. I hunt real slow with the coil touching the ground, most of the time to keep my arm from getting tired.

I still have a lot to learn! Great machine!!! Thanks to all for your posts and comments!

I really looking forward to replacing the fbs1050 with the 11" Pro coil on my next hunt

The more you learn....the more fun you will have.:)

The flipside to that?....the more fun you have...the more you will learn. :)

It's a NO lose situation.:clapping:

Congrats! All I can say is Wow!! on all those silver finds.:clapping: It looks like your learning the SE real well.
I cant wait to get out with my SE Pro again when the weather breaks.

Nice finds, especially that silver Kennedy half dollar. I've found a few Kennedy halves but none were silver. Way to go & Happy Hunting!

Nice digs there Bobby.:clapping: That old carnival ground area has been good to you for sure. GL & HH on your next trip back there. Gotta be some more old silver there and from the looks of what you ahve found so far this could be a good spot for a long time for you.

Thanks for the comments! Maybe we can all get together and hunt one of these days! I would be willing to travel and meet up somewhere! Take care!

Thanks for all the replys! We've had some good hunting weather in western Ky and looking forward to some more beginning tomorrow. We need to dig a lot of silver with the price going up! It would be nice to have all that enjoyment and pay for our detectors while doing it! HH!
