Well it has taken me quite awhile to create this little monster. It's a waterproof Shadow X-5. I used a TB upper shaft and a Fisher White Fiberglass lower shaft. I spray painted the coil white so it would be easier to see underwater. I was going to paint it bright yellow but Scott has already used that color on his mods so I opted for Fire Engine Red <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> I made the housing by hand which is part of what took so long and I used a program that I bought from a company in Germany to design the control panel. The bottom and rear are clear so I can see if it leaks <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> So far so good!!!! Batteries are internal AAA 800mah NIMH's rechargeable through the waterproof headphone connector so there is no need to enter the detector housing for anything unless something goes wrong.

Can you let us know how you waterproof the pots on your detector.Your case is verrrry nice <img src="/metal/html/please.gif" border=0 width=29 height=15 alt=":please"> .I want to do a water XL PRO <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> <img src="/metal/html/glasses.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":geek:"> .
 
The controls I used are actually sealed controls right from the start and then I used Hexseal nuts as a secondary waterproof seal. The controls are Vishay PRV-6 Series and the Rotary Switches are Grayhill 50-51 Series.

I don't think I have seen any mod that has been better than that....and I mean that. there were some AS good but none better. I have to realy give you a thumbs up on the control panel artwork. That to me is one of the hardest things to come up with...to me it usualluy is the toughest.

Thanks!!! I agree with you on the Control Panel. You would not believe how many different designs I came up with before I finally decided on that one. This program that I am using to make the control allows you to create totally custom control artwork for specific controls and then save the layout for each control. Then the next time you are using that type control you can just drop in the artwork for that control. Making the 1st one is a bit of a pain as each element is done individually but once done and locked you can save it or move it anywhere you want. It's a nice program and I really like it now that I am getting used to it <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> It's Called Front Designer. If you want a link to the company in Germany that sells it let me know.

That is a sweet mod, wish I had the time and talent to do that. Keep the mods coming for us to see.

I tried it there on several ocassions before I waterproofed it. You can get it to work there, but not well. Multifrequency and PI's are the best choice for Saltwater Beaches. At least for my type of hunting.
