LCD Back Light

I have a question for the Safari owners. Is there a backlight on the display screen? I see that the E-Trac has one and like the idea of having one. THANKS

Most people with a Minelab go by the tones to tell them what is in the ground. With that being said, if it's too dark to see your screen, it's probably too dark to see what you are doing when you are digging a plug, or to see what's in your scoop at the beach. For that reason you go to Home Depot, or a similar store, and buy a light you wear on your head. They are cheap, and you will not only be able to see your screen, but where you are walking and what is in your plug or your scoop.

fwiw, I use a very tiny LED light that I tape to the Safari when night beach hunting. I cover part of it with black electrical tape to cut down on the brightness. I don't do this to watch the TID, but to check the depth after I find a good target by tone.

There are times when darkness is falling that I wish that my Safari had a back light, but as been said previously, if it's too dark to see the screen, a backlight wouldn't help you see whats in the hole. The idea of a cap light, if you think that you are going to find yourself in the darkness, is a good idea. May get one for myself, just in case. thanks

The Etrac has a Light, so if your planning on doing a lot of Night Hunting, the Etrac would be the detector for you, Remember The Etrac is also almost 1 pound heaver than the Safari.

Glad i read this post, been thinking hot and heavy about getting a Safari.. I night hunt alot, By far my favorite time since I'm a natural night owl and its more peaceful to me. Love and maybe I'm spoiled by my F75 since its always back lit just the right amount.

So the Etrac has back lighting but not the Safari, good to know.
