Lets go Garrett! it is February and you have not offered any new machines?

OK, I have mentioned this several times in the past. When the heck is Garrett going to offer a new Top of the line land machine? Traditionally Late winter is when the manufactures show something new. Garrett seems to want to ride the GTI wave again this year
I want and need a back up machine for my main detector, and I want that machine to be a Garrett. I am giving Garrett only a couple more weeks to show something new, or it is off to ebay with my current backup machine a GTAx-1250. It is a great machine but I need something new with better ground rejection, faster recovery, lighter weight, less batteries and battery drain, and usable features, not rehashed bells and whistles. The F70 is looking mighty sweet right now.
Please Garrett, offer us a hint!
I remember when the GTI200 came out in the 90's. Garret had a teaser ad campaign simply stating "it is coming" superimposed over the clouds and sky, It simply stated ' It is Coming,
Garret also had a sneaky way of letting out info about the Grand Master Hunter CXIII. It was a picture in a brochure which showed Charles Garrett with 2 machines by his side.
One was a GTA1000 and another was a Master Hunter CX2. But if you looked real closely at the picture of the CX you could see that it had a LCD screen. That machine later was Known as The Grand Master Hunter CXIII. Garrett needs to offer us a tease or some hard info on a new top of the line machine. If not many of us may jump ship in the spring.

I don't own a GTI 2500, but that does not mean I have not used one. I am very familiar with most of Garrett's machines and have come to the conclusion that all the models of the GTA and GTI family are very similar in features and in the field performance. The only difference in performance of their mid line machines, all the way to the GTI2500, are different bells and whistles offered on the next model above the one below it. The GTI1500 and the GTA 1250 are exactly the same machine except for the imaging feature. The All metal non motion in the GTI 2500 is the same as it was on the Grand Master Hunter CX III. I am not trying to intentionally bash Garrett, since I do respect them as a company and one of the earliest founders of detector manufacturing. It just seems that all of the units spanning from the detectors they offered that started the Power Master circuitry to the current GTI models seems to be the same machines in performance including and excluding certain features. A sens setting of 7 on a GTI is no different than a sens setting of 7 on a GTP or a GTA. the 2500 used to have a treasure talk feature which many think was a waste. I mean does the talk feature, make a 2500 better? Does the auto ground track on say a GTI1500 differ than the auto track on my GTA-x 1250? Garrett just seems to cannibalize their machines and call it an upgrade?
Garrett needs to get on the new tech bandwagon. Or perhaps Garrett is intent on being a brand that caters to new comers. Even the way they word their brochures seem to be geared to newcomers. Look at their instruction videos. It is narrated like it is geared toward Kindergarten kids. I would just Garrett get back into the Pro market. I am not saying Garrett is garbage, No way. But when a detectorist's becomes more enthralled with the Hobby it seems that they eventually find out that the Garretts have their limitations as other brands do of course. I think some of you may get what I am saying, even though I have a hard time wording it. I know we are Garrett fans, but we cant be fooled forever. They got to get their products back into the minds of the Pros's out their. They can do that by doing more than offering a new machine with new decals and minor upgrades. In the end I guess the whole industry is guilty of rehashing products.
Just my opinion.

Seems like the new hot detectors out there are runing at higher frequencies 13kHz for some reason. And they do look like deep running detectors from the post and reports I've read.We need the next big thing from Garrett and not a pinpointer.

Well there is another way to look at it...... Why come out with a new model every 6 months?? Look at the recent slew of all detectors, most from what I can see all are do-overs of existing machines. Then some build machines -same exact design just leave off a "few" modes,switch,programming,coil etc.... and sell that machine as a "PRO" or someother name to induce that your missing stuff Mdl. now that's crap.
Do I need 100 freqs shooting into the ground?? prob not but it's a cool idea. I like that garrett isn't reflaging,painting the same models, sure they are not the newest do-hicky- But they work, and work well by all accounts. If it an't broke don't fix it. I will admit the additon of a GB/autotrack would be nice on some units, and while we're at it an LCD backlight. But the problem is more stuff-more cost.... and If garrett is using 100% labor the cost of production is high. In closing, off soapbox, I like doodads,button mashing,programming, fooling about with diff settings, but the hard truth is if it's not under the coil it matters not what machine you use- top of the line or a TR/BFO, your not gonna find it! oh then you have to have the disc set low enough and dig it up!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...I agree with all of you.How long these guys gonna ride the Ace choo choo....We want something different.Iv'e recently been doing research on the different models produced for the last 20 years..They haven't changed much..ecspecialy GTA.GTI,GTP...All great machines but your not fooling us.I think tecnology peaked 20 years ago.I would like something different.Like JJ above mentioned...Look at Tesoro..Tejon,Vaquero and Cibola..Nothing wrong with knobs..I dont see why Garrett cant give an individual some different features to choose from.Now get in gear fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too share every one's feelings that a new line of Garrett detectors would be well received. And I personally can say I have done quite well using their equipment. Often times when we get tired of using the same old equipment hunt after hunt, we get the bug to try a new detector. I have been there too. And often times when we reach that stage, we are at a point where we really have gotten to know the machine we are using, and mastered it! And, if we do get another machine, we start all over on a learning curve to try and master it also. Just a thought though, "have you tried one of the accessory coils available for your detector, be it the ACE Series, GTP, GTI and water machines?". My personal experience was that using a sniper coil on my ACE's and GTI 2500 opened up a whole new world, especially in the woods. I went back to a lot of spots my buddies and I had pounded, and low & behold, out came even more silver and relics. Adding a different coil to to an existing machine is a lot cheaper then going out and dropping a lot of money for something that will probably do 80-90% of what you already have. Adding a new coil makes an existing detector in essence, a new detector. If switching to a larger coil, you will now get added depth. If you switch to a smaller coil, you get good target separation, and into those tight spots or close to fences, re-bar and play equipment where the other larger coils fail. The same principle applies to the water machines. The small mono coils work great tight spots, both in the water and on land. The the depth is phenomenal on PI's in all types of soils. And all these potential new machines will only cost you about a hundred bucks to invest. Aside from multiple frequency detectors, the latest technology used in metal detectors comes from Garrett...."Imaging & Profiling" and they have the patent on it. Is it perfect? Heck no....but when you learn it and it's limitations, it saves a lot of time digging unwanted targets, especially if you like to hunt coins, jewelry and some specific types of relics.

Just a little food for though before you go out and drop a grand on a new unit!

Yeh I hear ya Jason. But, Garretts last 2 new products have been ~Awesome~ in my opinion. (Recon Pro PI and the Pro-Pointer) It is just the beginning I think for new Garretts in the near future if they are built like these two. Im excited to see what will trump the GTI 2500.

By the way the 2500 all metal mode is not the same as the CX III. 2500 is deeper and more sensitive. CX III is NOT auto ground tracking. CX III has fast trac ONLY which is adjusted by the user when grd adjustment is needed. 2500 is always adjusted unless you cut it off and use manual grd balance which provides even more sensitivity, as for prospecting.

Garrett doesn't need a new metal detector they have a complete line of quality detectors for every kind of use. My friends use minelab,nautilus and fisher and i have to compete with them with a GARRETT ACE 250 and most of the time i can find more stuff by using the ace 250 because it is not the detector but the user. If you read what the experience users like Bill and John say they will tell you learn your machine and you will find more treasure because it is not the detector but the user.

Since we enjoy detecting it follows that we're going to enjoy using and mastering a new machine.

But when that next great machine comes out and other dirt fishers start raving about it, well...my best hope is if my finances don't allow it. I should say that's my wife's best hope!

John makes an excellent point about the accessory coils. I got a sniper coil for my 1350 and it hasn't come off. It does a fantastic job of plucking coins right out of the heavy trash.

And since you can run the sensitivity higher with the sniper than the stock coil, there is very little loss of depth.

And with the sensitivity turned down low you can get right next to rebar and big metal.

Keep your peepers peeled and you can sometimes find one for a real good price.

After making many good finds over the years using a 4 inch tesoro coil my first coil purchase(in the mail as I type this) for my new Ace 250 was the 4.5 sniper coil. Small coils are madding to use when faced with a large area but do produce! My friends were always amazed at the amout of targets I could weedout of a hunted out area VS 8 and 7 inch coils, granted most were crap but there were some real fine keepers, like script "I" pewter 1812 buttons! If ya ever get into an area that produced keepers, when you swing the coil and it sounds like a machinegun goinig off switch to the small coil and "snipe" em out! Go away snow!!!!!

Speaking of switching out coils, I have not heard much about the 2 box setup for the GTI 2500. Does anyone here honestly have enough time on this combo to say how deep it can go? I know it is for large targets and I would hope that it will go much, much deeper than the 12.5" coil. Ok fellows thanks for any response to this question and be safe out there.
