Were you the one that was doing some testing on this? or anyone else come up with some results? You go to Menu then Audio then Tone, the Threshold Tone can be adjusted from 1 to 10. I have been working a new job with alot of travel time and don't get home till dark so no hunting time in the last three months.
 
I did test lowering my threshold tone (not volume) but only very briefly. I did not notice any difference but the test was hardly definitive. I'm busy deciphering the many SE features now so I won't get back to testing this until sometime later.
