Now tabman and 30" on his Compadre is more than likely the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth
. Example. A relative I hunt with has a detector that will barely detect a coin 8 inches deep, but he continually claims he finds coins well over a foot deep, even coins I've seen him dig that were no deeper than 5 inches. I think most estimate the depth of coin finds, or rather over estimate it. I did a few experiments that pretty much proved it, at least to me. I've dug coins that were five to six inches deep and measured the depth, then had hunting buddies estimate how deep it was. Almost without fail they would add three to four inches to the actual depth, and the relative I mentioned above often estimated double the depth.
Seriously, though, the Fisher 1266X really DID have the extreme depth that people claimed it did. I saw it with my own eyes. And... , by the way, ...it was a sad day for me when Los Banos sold out.
You guys are the best and I really enjoy readings these posts with my cup of Joe each morning before work. Take care, RDF
