This could have all been avoided if the seller had of just answered the origjnal question by saying; no it is not the same one as on ebay, they are different machines. Instead the question was answered; same one. What else was a person to think other than it was the same one as on ebay.

I agree, just caught that. The response was "the same one" does make you wonder?

I've seen many items listed on that auction site that say.... Seller reserves the right to end auction early because the item is listed locally. Not sure about this particular ad, but i have seen this before.

just for the record,,,, a seller CAN pull an item for ANY reason Before the auction closes,,,, it's not wrong in my opinion to put it out on Ebay and here,,,if a friend here gets it at the price he is asking ,,, great!!!! he closes the auction,, if not the item is still running it's coarse on Ebay,,,, how is "he misrepresenting the item on Ebay" by selling it here?

And if E-bay pulls a higher price... tough luck to the buyer on the forum, the E-bay buyer is his new best friend.

Yes, a seller can end their auctions early on E-bay but not for ANY reason, it has to be for a legitimate reason, broken, ran out of stock, etc. This isn't really about what someone can and can not do, this is about ethics. If this is the same item running both sites to see who is going to pay the most, do you really want to deal with this seller anyway? If he really does have two, this is hard to say because he says no and then says yes, all the power to him. As for the bidders on E-bay that might have passed on another deal only to find out this auction is bogus, it's only their time and perhaps a missed opportunity, they will get over it.. Personally, I would spend the extra $35 and buy it new with a warranty.

JMHO,
Ron

You can cancel your ebay auctions and/or bids up to 24hrs. of auctions end. Read the sellers agreement. Leave the guy alone he isn't doing anything wrong.

I agrre it's not how I would do it,,, but he is not breaking any hard rules,,,

Wow, all this over a fellow detector tyring to get rid of a detector for his kid and probably get a better one for him so he can enjoy hunting with his Dad. Everyone needs to get a grip!!!!!!!!!!

Hey
that is why on ebay they have end your auction early for sellers.
you go there and put in the item number and it gives choices why you are ending the listing.
(1) is item is broken
(2) not working right and
(3) no longer available
you can pull your item anytime you want up until 12 hrs to the end I think.
