I have an ongoing problem with the battery caps on my pod cracking, last year Minelab sent me 2 new ones when I e-mailed them with photos of cracks. I still don't know what causes them, my guess is the Fl. heat then jumping in the 72 degree River I hunt allot, may cause expansion and shrinkage ,witch in turns causes cracking. Bill got my e-mail last Thursday and sent me 2 new caps, I received today in the mail. So I am back in business. Here is the cracked end cap and the new one which is different it has black plastic not clear. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks again Bill for quick service.

I'll second it! Outstanding professional services with reasonable price. I have two excals I purchased off eBay and there top notch thanks to MINELAB.

WOW Mine cracked also on my new excal 2, i noticed this because my threshold started acting crazy the last few outings, i then started looking and noticed all the cracks in the battery pod, i called Minelab and Wanda at Kellyco just a few hours ago and between the both of them the problem was solved within 20 minutes, Minelab is sending me a new cap, now thats service, the funny thing is i told the lady at Minelab who happened to be the operations manager it must have been the Florida heat and then going into the cold water, i had not read this post until the ordeal was taken care of.So I guess were on the same page PAPA.I just hope this is not going to be an ongoing thing.Any one else have this problem.

Looks like completely different material. Hope it solves the cracking. Glad you are back in business! (I like seeing what you find in that river).

I have the same problem with one of my caps cracking and sent two e-mails to Minelab with photos but never got a response. My Excal is still under the extended coverage so thought they might help, what is Bill's e-mail? Maybe I should try again? Lloyd

I sent another e-mail and photos to Minelab to see what they will do. I took the detector out today after charging both batteries and the cracked one was dead! I remember seeing the crack appear much larger after recharging it once, when I was in Florida. Don't know if charging had something to do with it.

Talked to Bill on the phone yesterday and told him about my three e-mails to them and he said that they get so many e-mails that some get put in the junk mail. I guess mine were sent there! He is sending new caps, thanks again to Bill. Lloyd
