Little bit of "milky" water

Enjoy these. Taken in Idaho along the Banks/Lowman highway. The second was taken on the Oregon coast just a little north of Tilamook.

I've never had the opportunity to try moving water but this is well done and the other is a beautiful capture.

In this case I was exposing for the rock. I knew that about 1/2 second would really turn the water "smooth/milky" so ignored that. If I had exposed for the water, I worried about losing the detail in the darker areas of the scene. I metered the rock as well as the other areas to ensure I would not lose detail by going more than 2 to 3 stops on either side of the calculated exposure.

Minolta spot meter used. It was close to dusk at the time of the shot as well. Being in the mountains, the river was in shadow so I also had to move to an angle where the reflected sunlight would play a part on the side of the stream.

Curious; what part of the scene did you take a meter reading?
