The soil decided to thaw out again, enough to metal detect in the afternoons, so I went to a trashy picnic area that I had checked about six weeks ago with the 8.5x11 DD coil. Using the 5x8 DD today, over a previously searched area of about 700 square feet, I found two quarters, six dimes. three nickels, and thirteen pennies missed with the big coil. The little DD makes the ground cough up coins like a bully terrorizing school kids for their lunch money.

is the small DD that much better than the larger DD? I mean my larger DD is rockin

I've only had a chance to use it three times - the ground has been frozen most of the time since mid-December. For high trash areas the 5x8 DD would be my first choice. There are some old foundations that I checked last October that were very trashy with iron. I want to go back with the 5x8 and see what it might find. That will have to wait until spring as it is at a higher elevation.

Air temperatures here have been in the 40s and 50s since about noon yesterday, with a warm southerly wind, so maybe the ground will thaw enough in places that I can go out today. :detecting:

thanks got one on order, Mickfin
