Little trouble getting used to my new Deus

New member
Have been out 3 times now with the new Deus and I'm having some trouble adjusting coming from an AT PRO. I'm digging a lot of iron that the Deus said was 85-95.

I know I'm supposed to learn the sounds, that the target ID isn't the greatest. I've been in Basic 1 and Deus Fast. All in my back yard which is very trashy (but that's why I upgraded, the Deus is supposed to be the God of Trash.

Sometimes it doesn't give me a target ID at all. And I noticed an odd bug. When I hit pinpoint, then exit while I'm over the target, the ID numbers stop showing. If I hold the coil up in the air hit pinpoint again then exit, then drop the coil. IDs work again.

I recently came from a Etrac to the Deus. I found it pretty easy but no way a master of it being only 3 weeks into it.

I hate reading but start with the manual then Andys Book and check out this site XP INFO

Then play with the Deus in the field. I will tell you do not do not start in a trashy area. The VDI on all machines are off but I will tell you with this machine Tones are key. If it does not register a VDI its deep deep target. Once you know

the sounds this helps greatly.

I found that Relic and fast where great programs. Do not go changing settings with out knowing what your doing.. I did this one time and could not hit a target past 6inches now i am pulling wheats and silvers 8 and deeper.

All i can say is this machine is balls man!!!! I have got some great goodies from sites I was out there with the etrac and the 2 others.. But not to put the etrac down it was a deep silver seeker.. I am yet to pull a silver dime past 8.

Hope it helps man... Go on Facebook and join XP US site

Have read the manual and most of Andy's book. Def need more time with it. I thought about an E-trac but I wanted lighter, quick swinging, and wireless.

I feel your pain, I too am on the XP learning curve. some days I hate it and on others I think it's great. I am sticking with one program and one frequency and learning it as best as I can. if I jump around I get all confused and don't know what the heck I'm doing. Keep at it and it starts to make sense. then tweak one setting at a time to see what it does for you. I still don't get the silencer mode yet but I have upped the sensitivity because I don't have much mineralization around here so it runs pretty stable. think of it as a toy to play with and something to master, that will come of its own accord in time.

I've been reading and getting more used to it. Coming from the AT Pro it's kind of like fishing with a stick then being handed a tournament reel. Not to bash the Pro it's awesome just not as customizable. And I love how small it scopes down. Next summer I'll want the 11" coil.

I found it a bit difficult for a couple of months being a ex-Minlab nut for about 25 years.

You will get there at some point and now I use full tones and nothing much is missed if Monseiur Deus and myself if we pass over it. Jerry.
