Look closely at the bricks in this photo.............

You can see the hand prints and finger marks from the slaves that formed these bricks. Kind of eerie when you consider the extreme hardships that they had to endure. At one of the plantations we went to, one of the brick in the slave shacks had a very small complete hand print of a child in the brick.

Neat when you consider the history.

Our house was built in 1830.
Lumber cut on site.
And all the brick were made on site.
This is a brick in the hearth o' the fireplace in our bedroom.
This little fella was born in the cabin out back that the folks lived in while the house was bein built.
At 3 months of age his foot print was pressed into this brick.
He went on to grow up in this house.
I do know the fellas name but can't recall it right now.

Looks like mom or dad pressed his little pinky toey in a bit too hard

I've been gatherin bits and pieces o' the history of my house from folks all 'round here.
I have been tryin to come up with a way to document it all and a way to keep it with the house for
whoever lives here in the future to enjoy.
So far, other than maybe display boxin the things i dig,i can't think of how to do this.
