There is one major implication with a gift like that, don’t outfind him for the first year! LOL

Stick with the stock programs, get to know the machine and what it is “telling” you. Once you are comfortable with being one with it then you can look at “tweaking” settings and using other users programs they have created. Keep in mind they more than likely used the D2 for a lot of hours prior to tweaking what can be changed. General is a great starting point imo. Believe it was a year before I switched to Sensitive and that is my go to now with tweaks.

I agree with T-DUB, the General program right out of the box is outstanding. Try the default PWM audio type. If it drives you crazy or makes you laugh uncontrollably like it does me, try Square and Hi Square audio type under the Audio heading after navigating to the Options menu (top left button).

Get together a good assortment of the coin targets you may find in playgrounds, public parks, schools or your own yard and practice with them along with some common trash like steel beer caps, pull tabs and aluminum screw caps.

Learn how to noise cancel.....long press of the top right button and keep sensitivity low if you practice inside your house.

Have fun and all the best luck.

Appreciate it! Read the manual, got her set up, tested some coins, tokens and pull tabs and had some fun around the backyard tonight. 7 cents and a 1932 dog tax tag! 🤩 Even had a designated digger! I’m blessed!

My finds from my first outing outside the backyard with my D2! Having so much fun with her! Keeping with the standard programs. Really only using Park. Learning her tones. Dug at a Church and a ghost town today.

The first photo is from a children’s desk from 1868. Found that at the Church. The license plate, crock piece and shell casings are from the ghost town area. And of course, nails and pull tabs.

Just getting started with her and loving it! May hunt again tomorrow!

Hi, That was a nice gift. A few pointers: read the manual and use it for reference, watch a bunch of videos, test it in the field, trial and error, stay away from hi EMI areas, Deus 2 a very sensitive unit. For me it was easy after using a detector with similar functions.
Go out and have some fun with folks who have similar interests .
HAPPY HUNTING 🙂

Great detector I used mine yesterday scored a 1939 Washington a nice dandy button a 1879 Indian good luck watch Gary Blackwell YouTube calabash digger also I use SFT sensitive full tones
