Looking for a metal detector!

I am looking for a cheap metal detector for my son and I. Recently my grandfather passed and I want to search our family land before my family decides to sell it (hopefully they won't). The land has been in our family for over 100 years and I would like to try to find some things they might have dropped or hidden. I am also taking him to the beach for the first time and would like to detect there as well. I can't afford very much. We have too many bills (hospital, and car repair) as well as an 8 month old who is in daycare. My father took me detecting when I was young and I want to do the same for my son. Hopefully he can learn about our family in the process. Thank you for listening. I feel ashamed asking like this but I just want to make some great memories with my son. Hopefully one day I can get out of this hole.

Please don't take this as I am just looking for a handout! I am just looking to spend some time with my son and get him away from the TV. Hopefully one day I can help someone else out.

A Garrett Ace 150 would be a great beginners machine. Some detector dealers have used models that are very inexpensive.

Call Al at Pro --- Stock Detectors. Tell him your story, and that you are looking for a used model that is in-expensive and he should be able to help you out.
He is a good Christian dealer. 269-685-1776.

think it is great that you want to take your son and go detecting on the old farm! I hope all works out okay for you and him! Also, Welcome to the CMD Forum! May God bless you and yours! Ma Betty

Thanks for all your help. Unfortunately buying a metal detector just got shot out the window. I have to get a procedure done and our insurance deductible just went up. Thank you again I will remember your suggestions in the future
